Visually, the film is breathtaking, the screen presence the right colors of luminous, recognizing model’s [Griets’] stillness and natural intelligence on a mesmerizing level. Webber here touched the atmosphere with a magic stick, creating the Dutch master's oeuvre, awakening it to life. Just like Vermmeer’s painting, he respects the color and lights, looking after the camera placement and texture. “Girl with a Pearl Earring” silent as it is, is still an amazing achievement. Advantages: Fascinating novels, interesting periods of history, entertaining reads.
Disadvantages: Burning Bright was a disappointment, but others might like it.

...If I tell you I read 'historical fiction', what does that phrase make you think of? Corsets and crinolines? Boring characters speaking old-fashioned language in dark, dusty rooms? I must admit I used to think historical fiction was a bit dull. But then I read 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' by Tracy Chevalier. It was one of those books that really blew me away. I was captivated from start to finish. In fact, I didn't want it to finish, immersed as I was in the world that the author had created. When a writer has that effect on me I immediately want to read every word they've ever written and also learn more about the person behind the books. Now that I've steadily read my way through Tracy Chevalier's five published novels (some of them twice) I would like to share some of the things I feel I've learned and give you a flavour... Advantages: Cheap, Very Helpful

...I first found this site when searching Google for some moonstone earrings. They stock a range of mainly silver earrings with semi-precious stones such as amethyst, opal and moonstone which are very reasonable (I've bought some semi-black opal earrings for only $13.00 - far cheaper than you could get them in England). This is an American site which, although it has little in the way of information about each product, it has one of the most helpful people I have ever met on the Internet running it! There was no mention of whether they shipped to the UK so I emailed them. I recieve an email back almost immediately saying that ALL postage and packing was $4.00 regardless of where it was sent. Encouraged, I ordered some items and replyed to the email thanking them for a quick response and was then asked to keep in touch to tell them... Read review
