...Charles Mingus - In a Soulful Mood. Charles Mingus, also known as "The angry man of Jazz", is a fantastic jazz bassist and composer. He was born in 1922 in Arizona and picked up the Double Bass in high school. He had previously learnt to play the cello and trombone so many of his cello skills were converted to double bass. In his early years he was composing incredibly advanced jazz pieces, some of which to be recorded later on. Over his career Mingus recorded in excess of 70 records with various musicians passing through his often unconventional bands. He tended to focus on the personality, as well as the ability, of a musician to see how he would fit into the band. ...FutureSex/Lovesounds - Justin Timberlake**** A second album is always hard many say it's the make or break of an artist's career. When you have also had several albums with a chart topping boy band, the pressure must be huge. Plus, Justin Timberlake has had a multi-million selling debut that must be a mass of pressure. Under all this pressure, has he created an album that critics will rate or simply slate? Futuresex/Lovesound***** The opener of 'FutureSex/Lovesounds' is like an 80's Prince song meets Michael Jackson if he had ever done sexy rather than freakish. Its all about sex? how strange with such a title I thought it would be all about love not 'all I need is a moment alone, to give you my tongue and get you out of control, after you let it in, its skin to skin, so natural'. ...Before I got my iPod and sounddock, I was one of those who refuses to subscribe to the technological revolution. Prefering hi-fi and compact disc to the digital music phenomenon. However, within a week (once I'd worked out how to use it), I was hooked on my iPod and once I got the sound-dock, there was no turning back. I think it's fairly safe to say that the era of compact disc players and tape decks is over... The only reason I still have a normal cd player in my house is to listen to the radio, and those few albums that I just haven't got around to putting on my iPod yet. The Bose sound-dock is a piece of mastery in the area of audio technology. Beautiful, sleek and streamlined; it's large frontal speaker provides both volume and sound quality. The music I play on the sound-dock sounds almost incomparably better than CDs... Read review
