~~JUST LIKE YOU~~
I have had this album for a few months now and I have never listened to it, but recently I was going through my CD collection and came across this album. I end up listening to it two or more times. "Just like you" album is all about Relationships, there are fifteen songs on the album and every single song is about the dilemma of a relationship, she sings about all the heartache she went through and how it hurt her so much, Its either you have been through it or going through it. Her style and voice is amazing. This stands as a very good album by Keyshia Cole.
~~THE ARTIST~~
Keyshia Cole is a 26 year old singer who was brought up in a chaotic childhood in Oakland, California. Like many young people raised in a tough neighbourhood, she fought all her life to keep her dream of a music career alive. Just like you is Keyshia's second album which she is the executive producer and writer.
~~THE ALBUM~~
1. Let It Go (featuring Missy Elliott & Lil' Kim) 3/5
This is the first single, every Keyshia fan knows this one. It's a great 90's slow jam and Missy and Kim's raps are great. The only problem I have with Missy's beats and rap interpolations is that they are all beginning to sound the same. Vocally, it's a tad strained but it works for the song. It's really catchy and a great way to start the album.
2. Didn't I Tell you (featuring Too $hort) 2.5/5
This is a typical club tune, it is really fresh and upbeat. Keyshia sounds great on this track. The vocals on this song are smooth; the instrumentation is a typical hip-hop beat.
3. Fallin' Out 4/5
This has a really cool old school vibe going on. Keyshia's vocals are on point, personally I would say its one of the best song on the album. It, however, is a nice mid-tempo groove and she delivers it convincingly and beautifully.
4. Give Me More 3/5
One of the standout tracks for me. The track has such a good beat and it's really catchy. Keyshia delivers this song like a pro; nothing contrived or forced here.
5. I Remember 3/5
This is an excellent slow groove, nice enough song, but nothing special. Once again, Keyshia's vocals are outstanding. Also, it sounds similar to Keyshia's hit.single "Love".
6. Shoulda Let You Go (featuring Amina) 3/5
Dark Child produced this one, with upcoming artist Amina. This is the up-tempo follow up to "I Shoulda cheated". Same message lyrically. Only the instrumentation differs, but the song is even in the same key as "I Shoulda..." Nothing special.
7. Heaven Sent 4/5
This is my favourite. It is a really nice song, it won't be everyone's cup of tea but I love it. The lyrics are beautiful and deliver(ed) well by Keyshia.
8. Same Thing (Interlude)" 2/5
Keyshia is singing and talking over a nice beat. Not bad, but not essential to the album!
9. Got To Get My Heart Back 2/5
Not a bad track, but not as good as the first 7 songs on the album. There's absolutely nothing special about this track or even remotely memorable about it. It doesn't' really go anywhere for me.
10. Was It Worth It? 3/5
B. Cox did a good job on the production of this track. A Really deep song that stodout. Yet again Keyshia was on point with her vocals.
11. Just Like You 2/5
This is a really nice track with a great beat but I can't say I liked it, this is meant to be her gospel track as well.
12. Losing you (featuring Anthony Hamilton) 3/5
This is very old school, As an Anthony Hamilton fan I am not sure if I like it or not. It can be a little boring listening to it, but it's not awful.
13. Last Night (featuring Diddy) 3/5
We all know this one! A great song and a different edit to Diddy's version. It was a massive hit for Keyshia and it's good that she included this on the album.
14. Work It Out 3/5
Probably the weakest track, but it's a good album closure. Nothing special to say about this song at all.
15. Let It "Remix" (featuring Missy Elliott, Young Dro, & T.I.) 3/5
This is the remix of the first track and to be honest I prefer this over the original, T.I add a bit of freshness to it.
~~OVERALL ALBUM RATING:~~
Despite the fact that I have listened to this album more than one time doesn't mean that it was and outstanding album however I think it was an ok album, a little bit more effort would have made it superb. There's no doubt that Keyshia can sing--at least on CD. I have yet to see her deliver live as a true singer. She delivered a strong 7 tracks. The rest of the album is simply filler and it even sounds as if Keyshia wasn't feeling singing it; every song and track began to sound the same which is unfortunate because this could have been a great 15 track album.
Advantages: Voice, sounds, lyrics, great hifi test Disadvantages: Not a lot
...she can do more than just the great ballads.
5. I Remember This is a ballad with a great relaxed feel. the guitar and piano blends so well and they are soon joined by a bumping beat. This is a very beautiful track with Keyshia remembering how she felt after a break up. Thinking about all the things you say that you don't really mean.
6. Shoulda Let You Go - Amina, Keyshia Cole This features newcomer Amina and is a funky hip hop track with a great ... ...to this track.
11. Just Like You This is a great ballad with some nice opening piano tones and then a shuffling sample in the background. This is a very nice track with a great beat alongside the piano melody. This track works really well indeed.
12. Losing You - Keyshia Cole, Anthony Hamilton This is a great old school ballad featuring the distinctive voice of Anthony Hamilton, The beat of the drum is combined with the piano melody to make a nice ...

...back with her sophomore album, Just Like You. Keyshia, the voice for so many women, had the no. 1 R&B album in the country. Even after collaborating with many esteemed artists on her new album, including Too Short and Anthony Hamilton, Keyshia is still the one we want to hear. Throughout the album, not only do we see her growth as a singer, she's also able to invoke in us the emotions she feels in each song she sings, with her visceral vocals. Her ... ...it definitely wasn't worth it. Just Like You has many mid-tempo songs as well, from "Got To Get My Heart Back," where we hear Keyshia rapping for the first time, to "Last Night," featuring Diddy. Though they each add to the album, we really see Keyshia at her best on ballads like "Heaven Sent" -- "I wanna be the one who you believe / In your heart is sent from (sent from heaven) / There's a piece of me who leaves when you gone / Because you're sent ...
