...Being a huger motown fan i decided to purchase this album so i could have a collection of motown hits all on one CD. As i had heard most of the songs on the album before my purchase i knew what to expect and thus was not disapointed. Each song on this album has its own upbeat rhythm and lyrics that will have you singing along for hours. The album has 46 tracks which is a good collection of motown hits to have. Many hits on the album can be hardc to track down these days and this CD is a great mix of the known and not so well known. On this Cd you will hear such hits as :- Heard it through the grapevine, Tears of a Clown. As well as hits from such stars as the jacksons, The Temptations and the Supremes. Disadvantages: A few weaker tracks on CD 2 but they had to be included to make a comprehensive album!

..., and is the version most often played at mobile discos - a great 60s soul number. Just as catchy as the Foundations' 'Build me up buttercup,' great vocals from Levi and that distinctive Motown sound heard on more famous songs such as 'Where did our love go?' by the Supremes. Great summer track. 3) It's the same old song - the follow-up to the previous track. A perfect Motown hit, not as big as 'I can't help myself' but in my opinion, a far superior track in terms of the lyrics, the production, the vocals and the fact it is not played so much! A perfect tale of heartbreak and Levi's vocals catch this mood perfectly. 4) Reach Out, I'll be there - probably regarded as the biggest Four Tops hit and why not, because it was after all a huge UK number 1 in 1966. ...Please excuse my terrible title, but it's true. Although this has been released for many years now, I picked it up at HMV last weekend after hearing a Smokey Robinson track in a cafe. It was great value, at £9.97 for the 3 disc set. It was quite hard to find, tucked away in the compliations section, but I knew what I was looking for and didn't have to fight over it with anyone! I was not disappointed with the CDs. This compliation contains all the great hits as well as a few tracks you don't hear quite as much. Tamla Motown refers to the hits created by the Motown Record label, in this case (mainly) in the 60s-70s. It was known as the sound of young America, and the distinctive sound typifies the era.
