Where Are You, Blue Kangaroo? By Emma Chichester Clark
I have already reviewed some of this series, but this is another favourite about Lily and her Blue Kangaroo.
***What's it all about?***
The story opens with what appears to be Lily and Blue Kangaroo playing hide and seek. However, it becomes clear that Blue Kangaroo isn't hiding on purpose; Lily keeps losing him! Lily's friend Florence takes her to the park, she has a lovely time and is about to leave; when she realises she has forgot something! Blue Kangaroo! She finds him on the slide and Florence tells her to be more careful next time.
The next week-end Lily goes shopping with Aunt Jemima and travels by bus. She is in a busy crowd of people when she remembers something - she has left Blue Kangaroo on the bus. Luckily a lady has seen what has happened and chases after them ...

***THE BOOK***
I love this series of books about Lily and her favourite toy - Blue Kangaroo. They are written by Emma Chichester Clark and are suitable for children aged around 2-6 (although my daughter still picks them up to reminisce and she is 11! The stories usually illustrate some moral message for the young reader and this book is no exception. It centres upon blame.
Lily starts off washing her dolls clothes and makes a fine mess. When her mother comes down she blames it on Blue Kangaroo. Next she dresses up the cat and in retaliation the cat dashes around and pulls down the curtains. This picture is funny; it reminds me of the time my children dressed our Labrador puppy up in football kit, (she seemed to like the attention). Lily again blames Blue Kangaroo, when her mother ...
Advantages: Great story to illustrate what it feels like to be left out. Disadvantages: None
I Love You, Blue Kangaroo! By Emma Chichester Clark
This is my favourite book in the series and the one that I bought for my children first.
***What's it all about?***
As before, this book is about Lily and her favourite soft toy Blue Kangaroo and addresses the issue of being left out.
Lily tells Blue Kangaroo that she loves him, last thing before she goes to bed every night. Then one day Aunt Jemima comes to tea and give Lily a wild soft brown bear. Lily exclaims that she loves Wild Brown Bear and he takes pride of place next to her in bed that night - Blue Kangaroo is a little further away from her.
The next day, a family friend Florence also comes to tea. She brings Lily a yellow cotton rabbit. Lily loves Yellow Cotton Rabbit and Wild Brown Bear and of course Blue Kangaroo. However, that night, Blue Kangaroo is even more ...
