The first CD from Kate Rusby appeared in 1995 in conjunction with Kathryn Roberts (lead singer with the band Equation who also include Seth Lakeman amongst their number). This album is a collection of 10 great traditional folk songs with all songs arranged by the girls.
The songs are mainly about relationships where men go off to fight in wars and the women sit at home waiting for them. The album listing is:

Personally my favourite songs are The Queen and the Soldier rearranged from Suzanne Vega's original and brilliantly sung by Ms Roberts and Plains of Waterloo where again Ms Roberts hauntings lyrics and beautiful melodies are perfect. The Kate Rusby voice that everyone know's and loves is in clear evidence with that lovely Barnsley accent giving the songs she sings that little bit extra.
I am a great Kate Rusby fan and have all her albums but this is the one i return to the most to listen to over and over again. The songs send a shiver down my spine everytime I hear them.
And if the songs aren't enough then the album was produced by Scottish wizard John McCusker so you know things are going to sound good before the CD even starts.
This CD should be easily available from most record shops or online for about £9.99
