Whilst many would have him classified as a producer of "lift music" for the fellow musician one can only wonder at his undoubted ability and musicality whether or not one actually likes his commercial music. Kenny has mastered the art of producing hummable tunes that get stuck in your head and yet, at the same time, are wonderfully relaxing and enveloping in one swoop. One cannot fail to feel just ever-so-slightly sentimental when listening - a rare accomplishment for something that is essentially background music. Kenny's often described as a jazz musician but whilst one could (and probably should) argue that this is far from jazz there is still the kind of soulful, relaxed air about each piece that will occasionally produce a slight spine shiver if the ambient mood is right. Advantages: Another Great Rod Stewart Album
Disadvantages: Possibly His Last Great Album

...'s "Angel". The second part of the album kicks off, as did "Every Picture Tells A Story", with an instrumental from Martin Quittenton , "Interludings" , before launching into the now evergreen "You Wear It Well" , the single that sold the album, the equivalent of "Maggie May" from the previous outing. The pace slows again for gorgeously soulful rendition of "I'd Rather Go Blind" before capping the album on a high not with a full tilt reading of Sam Cooke's "Twisting The Night Away" featuring a stunning drum break , from , I assume, Mr Kenny Jones. Another of Rod Stewart's masterpieces available at mid price. If you've been brought up on his later stuff you would do well to discover the early albums which contain lots of great music. The sound is timeless, and I wish he'd get this line up together again. He recently did and unplugged album... Read review
