This compilation CD really lives up to kerrangs trademark slogan 'life is loud'. Kerrang 4 (the album) is in my opinion a brilliant collection of some modern rock songs. The tempo of the album is always up - beat and although there may be some slower songs (such as the callings 'wherever you will go', which by the way if you haven't heard it is an awesome song), the overall pass of the double disc set is quick energetic and 'loud'.
Kerrang 4 is not loud in the sense that it hurts your ears and deafens you (even though I love that sort of music also), it is loud in talent, originality, rocking and every track will make you want to dance. The most outstanding tracks over the double disc in my opinion are Bowling for soups - girl all the bad guys want, which with funny lyrics and head banging beat is entertaining and musically sound. Puddle of muds blurry, and papa roach's she loves me not are two of my up most favourite and both those songs made me by the two albums, as one song from each band wasn't enough .
Hoobstanks running away and Chad Kroger 'hero' (from Spiderman) is also a classic now. And that's only disc 1! On disc 2 there's another Nickelback smash hit - too bad, x-ecutioners featuring mike shinoda and mr Hahn of linkin park - its going down, sum 41's fat lip, and one of the best songs and bands to come out of 2002 (complimations release year) is tribute by Tenacious D. If you have read any of my other reviews you will know I am also a real tenacious D fan, mainly after loving this song!

This isn't the sort of album you would buy, but it really is superb and is great to buy a compilation like this when perhaps you don't want to buy a bands whole album. Kerrang 4 (the album) also makes a great gift for any teenage boy, or anyone to that matter. I truly believe there is so much to this album on so many levels. Also as this album has been out for a while now (5 years), it is a bit cheaper, so buy it and I'm sure you will like at least 1 new band after listening to it!
