Five years later and OK Computer by Radiohead is still revered by many and for good reason. Radiohead are a band who are not easy to imitatate. They seem to be a band who like to surprise, to be different. Unfortunatly being different sometimes means that people who are used to seeing you behave a certain way might react badly when you do not.
OK Computer when released did not recieve instant acclaim. It was difficult to follow up an album of outstanding quality like "The Bends". In fact a follow up could have been the worst thing Radiohead could have done. Recycling old tunes means that you can be accused of being repetitive, playing by numbers. It is something Oasis are accused of. A lack of progression. Radiohead dared to be different. When people heard Ok Computer expecting it to be "The Bends 2" quite likely they were disappointed. Being different however doesn't mean being inferior.
Soon enough as people got over the initial disappointment of Ok Computer and listened to the album and its complexities and simplicities. They realised that it wasn't so bad after all! So sure enough Ok Computer won awards and plaudits left, right and centre.
Now Radiohead have dared to be different again. Kid A is no Ok computer, the bends or a pablohoney. It is a new vision by an extraordinary band who dare to be different. Early reviews might be bad and a lot of fans might hate the new direction as well. This band doesn't do things by the book and Kid A like the band itself should stand the test of time as well.

I'd second Vicky's advice. You've got a good style, I enjoyed reading it both as a Radiohead fan and as someone very interested in all music. With some extra detail and focus on the album's contents, this kind of review could be really valuable to consumers, which is the main aim of Ciao's service.

Good op. However it would be useful for other consumers to know a little about the type of music Radiohead play just incase they have not heard anything by them, or have done but haven't realised it. Also a little more detail about the album, e.g. number of tracks, average length of track, which songs are your favourite, have any tracks been singles that people may therefore recognise, etc. Very good for a first album review as they are tricky ones to write find. The best way to learn a little bit is to read some album reviews which have been written by other members and rated very helpful. It will also get your name out on the site more if you read other's opinions, providing them with a link to click through to you so they can read some of your opinions. Just an idea. Vicky
