Please excuse some of my older reviews, they have little substance to them. In fact, they are quite pathetic. But I can't seem to delete them. Ah well.

Being a massive Radiohead fan, I naturally purchased Kid A immediately upon release. I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Although their style has progressed somewhat since ok computer, they still remain the top notch band they always have been.
Radiohead never will be one of the biggest bands in the world as they are such an acquired taste, but in my opinion the sound they make is original and cannot be copied. However, they will always be one of the biggest bands on the alternative scene, as they always have been, well-known by some yet unknown by many.
Many Radiohead fans slated this album, saying they had finally lost it and become far too abstract. It definitely is not everybody's cup of tea. But, it is one of those albums that you either love or hate. There is no happy medium. And I love it.
Thom Yorke's vocals seem to somehow blend completely with the music, becoming part of the music as a pose to just a voice over the top. With an excellent vocal range and style, it really is a pleasure to listen to.
Radiohead have now released five main albums, and each one is a different style to the others. This is no different. Yet another completely unique style emerges.
The thing that separates this album from most is the fact that all the tracks seem to link together as a whole, so instead of having ten different tracks, it is like just one long continually changing track.
Kid A focuses more around instrumentation than voice. Track 8, "idioteque", appears to be an attempt to ridicule modern dance music, but is quite a good track in itself.
Track 3, "The National Anthem", reverts back to the style of Ok Computer, while track 6, "optimistic", goes even further back to the days of The Bends.
Tracklist:
1. Everything in its right place - Fantastic opener with a gradual build up throughout.
2. Kid A - Abstract, mellow track, in contrast to the last.
3. The National Anthem - OK computer-type track based around a likeable bass guitar riff.
4. How to disappear completely - Guitar-based track that shows off Thom Yorke's vocal talents.
5. Treefingers - submersive track with a brilliant combination of different sounds.
6. Optimistic - Outstanding track, reverting back to their old style momentarily.
7. In Limbo - Strange but interesting track, again with great vocals.
9. Morning Bell - Mellow, spaced out track which also appears slightly different on Amnesiac.
10. Motion Picture Soundtrack - Orchestral sounding track, ending the album in style.
If you did enjoy this album, another band with a similar style to Radiohead is 'Muse', who have produced some classics of their own.
If you are to be a first time Radiohead buyer, don't get this one, get either Pablo Honey or The Bends. To appreciate this album to its full extent, you should first listen to the build-up. A classic.
