Kill 'Em All
1983, Megaforce

Well here we go, the start of this incredible band's career. This album is just pure thrash metal a genre this band created along with the likes of Slayer and Anthrax. This album launched Metallica into the limelight and this is the album that brough the public's attention to this trully talented band.

Hit The Light's (4.17) This is an amazing start to the album, 100mph of thrash choas. The slightly bluesy riffing set Metallica's tone for the next couple of years. The impossibly quick solo's Hammet pulls out of his bag are amazing and really shows what Metallica can do! This track hits you full force if your face, and knocks you flat on your arse!
Rating: 9/10

The Four Horsemen (7.13) The longest track on the album, but its seven minutes of razor sharp riffing with amazing time changes at every corner. The Lyrics here are very well written and Hetfield's vocal's work amazingly well with the music. Hammet's solo's again are amazing, but more melodic and controlled. The interlude here is something to die for, and amazing piece or work on the whole.
Rating: 10/10

Motorbreath (3.08) This, a tribute to their favorite band, the legendary Motorhead. This brings us straight back to the speed, and the sole agression the band have. Hetfield's lyrics in this song are telling us 'this is how I live my life' and are telling us to fu*k off if we dont like it!
Rating: 7/10

Jump In The Fire (4.41) This is probably one of the lesser track's on the album although some may disagree. The main riff is well written but it can get quite boring after a while, but Hammet's lead's at intervals liven this song up a bit more. The interlude to this song is probably the best bit, and Hammet's solo really gives the song a nice cutting edge.
Rating: 7/10

(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth (4.14) Probably my favorite on the whole album, because is demonstrates the sheer genius of Cliff Burton, this is one amazing bass solo. It got a nice low groove to start with and then launches into a heavier, funkier (if i dare say so) track. One you will find yourself listening to over and over.
Rating: 10/10

Whiplash (4.09) This song contains all that the band is, a brilliantly written thrash song, fast, furious and dangerously heavy. The lyrics are something you'll be screaming along with every time you hear this track. The open E riffing Metallica play are something many a band has now copied. Hetfield's voice screaming 'Here we go!!!' before Hammet's solo sum's up how insane this song is.
Rating: 9/10

Phantom Lord (5.01) Probably has the best opening riff on the album, Metallica use their dual guitars fantastically here, creating an incredibly loud sound. They somewhat loose their focus during this one, and the recording doesnt really show the song at it's full potential. But once you hear this one live, you will be on your knees praying to this band!
Rating: 8/10

No Remorse (6.26) The opening solo is mind blowing, and you can hear how much fun they are having because they start to get carried away, but (as it would be with other artists), it's not a bad thing here! The well written riff's are something to envy, with Hetfield's screaming vocal's doing their job perfectly.
Rating: 9/10

Seek And Destroy (6.55) What can we say? This is an absolute gem of a song, the true masterpiece of the album. This has made it onto Metallica's live set at nearly all of their show's. You could say the song was ruined by overfamiliarity because of this, but the first time you hear this will be a moment to remember! The pulverising opening riff is classic, but the best bit is the 110% thrash interlude. A barrage of open E riffing leading up to another memorable solo.
Rating: 9/10

Metal Militia (5.11) The one to finish off this album. This is one huge sprint to the finish line, with the guitar's galloping at full speed. This is basically a thank you to all the fan's who helped get Metallica where they are now. This is a very good ending to such a powerfull album. Full of speed, destruction and a hell of a lot of growling!
Rating: 7/10

This album really set Metallica away from their rival thrash metallers, and really helped them get recognized. The magic of Hammet's technique and Hetfield's vocal's destroyed any opposition and set them on their way to metal-stardom.
