Advantages: Tasty, well made and good to drink. Disadvantages: Not quite as classy and doesn't look as good in a pint glass!
Koninck (a monster at 8% ABV) and De Koninck Blond (a lighter coloured option at 6% ABV). All of these beers are brewed using natural ingredients and are all top fermenting beers (produced using yeast that floats to the top of the vessel while brewing, rather than yeast that sinks to the bottom).
~~~THE BEER.
***A Bit of Background***
As this review is of the cask version of De Koninck I will restrict my background info to this product only. De Koninck Cask is brewed in Belgium and is then transported to the UK ~ it arrives unfiltered in tankers (from Antwerp) and is then racked into casks (in Faversham at the Shepherd Neame brewery) and then goes through a secondary fermentation in the pubs when it is delivered.
De Koninck actually means "the King" and in its true form is served in special goblet shaped glasses known as Bolleke ...
Advantages: Oh don't get me started... just go and buy a pint Disadvantages: They don't sell it in Australia
you finish it there’s plenty more in the bar (unless I got there first).
Thankfully Pride has a pleasant smell; strongly hoppy but not overpoweringly so.
Taste
Now we’re getting to the important part… the taste and London Pride is sublime in this area, the combination of Challenger, Northdown and Target hop pellets, provide a truly pleasurable drinking experience. It is not too bitter and the result is a fruity, malty and hoppy combination with a hint of caramel that simply goes down a treat. I’ve found two things on the web that have amused me about London Pride ...
