......" (Speak to me) Übergangslos, beinahe unbemerkt, geht es weiter zum dritten Stück des Albums - "On the run", das erste Instrumental auf der CD. Tatsächlich ist es aber kein Instrumental im herkömmlichen Sinne, vielmehr eine musikalische Geschichte, bestehend aus rasend wilden und stampfenden Rhythmen und einigen sich immer wieder überschlagenden Syhnesizer Riffs. Wir werden weitergeführt in ein 3D Stereo Experiment (was 1974 extrem beeindruckend gewesen sein muss), als man rennende Schritte in den Kopfhörer-Muscheln von links nach rechts rauschen hört, langsam stärker werdend überlagert vom Motorengeräusch eines Düsenjets, der über meinen Kopf zu fliegen scheint, gepaart mit dem merkwürdigen manischen Gelächter eines Irren aus dem Nirgendwo … und wieder zieht dich das Ganze in eine düstere Stimmung bis …. … "Time" erklingt. ...Auf Der Maur were a band that I had not heard of before last week. It was not till I read a review by one-true-ben that they came to my attention. I was interested enough to investigate their web site and was very impressed and I downloaded the four available video's from there and have been listening to them for days while I have waited for the album to arrive. I am writing this as I listen to it for the first time because I wanted write it now to get my first impressions. I haven't even opened it yet. It says on the cellophane wrapper, 'Le premier album de Mellisa Auf Der Maur en collaberation avec les meilleurs musiciens du rock nord-american' The album arrived from CDWoW via airmail from Hong Kong, actually faster than the royal mail would have delivered it from next door, but that is beside the point. Next up is the dubious, yet supremely successful teaming up with Kenny Rogers “KENNY ROGERS - PHAROAHE MONCH DUB PLATE” which features the country star combining his hit “The Gambler” with Wyclef’s rapping. One of my favourite tracks. The Rock joins with the fifth track “IT DOESN'T MATTER”, an unusual mix of hard rap and humour which samples the Bad Manners 80s hit “This Is Ska.” I personally think that this is the worst offering of the nineteen. By this stage you will either love it hate this CD, but it just gets better and better, including the two singles from the CD “911” with Mary J. Bilge and “PERFECT GENTLEMAN”.
