I've deviated from my normal title style this time: I haven't tried to make it long and complicated (with the intention of being funny, of course) but kept it simple. I've done this to reflect the music which I'll be talking about, and I hope you'll agree this brilliant artist, and his amazing album, deserve nothing less.
From what I've read about Alexi Murdoch, he has an interesting history. A Scot, born in London but emigrated to America to attend University to study philosophy, he hasn't taken the obvious route of a musician. His accent sounds mostly English but of course this is quite hard to tell as most songs are now sung with an American accent anyway. This box set is called Rocky Anthology which is one of my favourite film franchises. It is also one of the biggest films of Sylvester Stallon's career. This box set includes Rocky 1-5 however does not contain Rocky 6 which is the final film in the franchise, so if you want the whole collection I suggest you do not get this box set and go for "Rocky - The Complete Saga" box set which contains all Six films. With the rave reviews I had read and being the consummate 'foodie', I planned on including a dinner at Alexis Taverna during my recent trip to Greece. While MUSICALLY RICH...AND FAMOUS documents the second half of British blues godfather Alexis Korner's career, KORNERSTONED adopts a more comprehensive approach, following the pioneering singer/guitarist from the very beginning of his musical life, all the way through every subsequent phase of his development. So we get not only his mid-1960s work with burgeoning blues-rock giants like Paul Rodgers and Steve Marriott, but also his `50s skiffle recordings (basically the British version of jug-band music) with the Ken Colyer band and his own skiffle group, and even an early acoustic guitar duel with famed fingerpicker Davey Graham on "3/4 A.D." Over the course of its two discs, this collection examines pretty much every aspect of this seminal bandleader's historic career.
