Advantages: Classic recordings from a master of his trade.
Disadvantages: Mono recordings, Crackly in parts.

...imagine it could be bought much more cheaper if you shop around. It has 2 CD's with around 41 tracks and gives more than 21/2 hours listening pleasure. It is recorded in Mono which I know is a totally alien concept for today's music lovers. The sepia photograph of Caruso on the front cover has him looking like a gangster from the Untouchables time period and the list of Italian composers could certainly be a Mafia list. Advantages: For lovers of the film, the period or the music of John Barry.
Disadvantages: A bit too easy listening for some

...Midnight Cowboy was director John Schlesinger's 1969 classic Oscar winning masterpiece portraying the shattered optimism of the American dream starring Jon Vought (father of Angelina Jolie) as male-prostitute Joe Buck and Dustin Hoffman as his sleazy scheming friend Enrico 'Ratso' Rizzo. The film follows Texan Joe as he naively sets off for New York to earn his fortune as a hustler. Upon arrival he finds little success and things only get worse when he befriends greasy con-merchant Rizzo. This album is a true soundtrack of the film in that, unlike many modern soundtracks, it truly follows the sequence of events in the film rather than just being a collection of hit songs banged together and added to the movie after it's finished. The original version of Harry Nilsson's "Everybody's Talking" appears just as it was in the film... Read review

Advantages: All the hero's in one
Disadvantages: Mixed sound recordings Sound louder and quieter in places

...At first glance you would imagine the CD to be the normal mainstream nonsense with Russell Watson singing Amor ti Vieta, but when looking at the back you do see that this is a quality CD. So lights down low CD player on high and a nice Glass of wine and you are ready for an audio trip through operatic tenor modern history. Nothing but quality technique and voice on show here, one of the best renditions you'll ever hear Track 2: Morgenlich leuchtend sung by Peter Anders Not my favourite song and a big jump in quality from the first track but still an adept singer, the first sign that there is going to be a wide variation of voice and style...
