Advantages: I do like Sasha Baron Cohen's characters Disadvantages: Too rude, too obnoxious, trying too hard
After finding myself at the cinema on a Sunday afternoon having been convinced that Bruno is a worthwhile watch, I decided within mere minutes of it starting that I had been clearly naive in thinking that it was an easy going, crowd pleasing film. Starring Sasha Baron Cohen, the man behind Ali G and Borat, I had safely assumed it was going to be a bit controversial, but usually the persona of the main character generally making it just about okay to laugh at the political-incorrectness.
The protagonist of the story is Bruno, a gay Austrian fashionista who, after being fired from his local TV show following a chaotic Velcro Catsuit incident, embarks on a journey to Hollywood to become the "most famous Austrian since Hitler". Advantages: Good acting, funny in parts Disadvantages: outragous butit's all been done before now
Bruno is Sasha Baron Cohen's latest creation, a 19 year old gay super model from Austria. I watched this last night and so here is my film only review
Story
The story, filmed like Borat in a documentary style, starts with Bruno at the height of his fame in Europe, model, fashionista and presenter of televisions, Funky time. Bruno seems to have it all, fame, money and the love of his life with whom he enjoys a very adventerous sex life.
That is until it all goes wrong afer a misjudged outfit choice on Bruno's part involving a velcro suit. Bruno loses his job on funky time and becomes a nobody.
Bruno decides the only way to become famous is to conquer the States and heads to L..A with his assistant Lutz. After trying acting, making his own pilot T.V show, a sex tape and attempting to bring peace to the middle east, as well as a major ...

Bruno - larger than life and fighting back.
Frank Bruno - what can I say?! For those of you old enough to remember this character and appreciate him as one of Britain's national treasures, this book is a must read.
I have never really been a great boxing fan but there was something about Bruno that drew me towards the sport. Was it his fabulous laugh and one-liners, his rapport with Harry or the family guy who had a stage presence bigger than life itself? Who knows maybe it's a combination of all the above.
I was fortunate enough to be in the audience with many boxing fans at the BIC (Bournemouth) on the 11th July 2008. Why? A great present I found by accident for my partner (who use to box when younger and loves the sport) - A Sporting Speakers Evening with Ricky Hitman Hatton and Frank Bruno.
