Lacuna Coil in my personal opinion, is the best Goth Metal/ Goth Rock/ Metal/ Rock band I have listened to. In truth, Lacuna Coil got me started down a road of listening to various rock music. Including Within Temptation, Nightwish, Slipknot, Nile, Rammstein, Neaera and so on...
Just to mention, I am a massive fan of Lacuna Coil (seen them backstage and at Download 2006).
I will attempt to be as Unbaised as possible.
/--- How did it start? ---\
Simply put. I heard a clipit of a song "Swamped from Comalies" on the Horror Channel in 2004, the advert was about Erotic Horror, kinda good song, when the lead singer (Cristina Scabbia) is hot. After tagging the song, I went and bought their albums.

Yes. Almost. :) Sounds like one of my old poems... ----------------------
Track 1 - Fragile:- (I rate: 7 out of 10)
Whoa that got my attention! Great heavy metal bit there at the beginning of the disc. This song isn't too bad, and actually includes the male vocalist Andrea Ferro at bit more, this is quite new. In my opinion (working together to make the song).
Track 2 - To The Edge:- (I rate: 7 out of 10)
Well the beginning bit of this song sound like strings on a guitar been plucked and reversed. Then about 8 seconds into the song it gets better. I think this song is something Lacuna Coil did as a "Try something new". Quite unique.
Track 3 - Our Truth:- (I rate: 10 out of 10)
This track is excellent, I saw the video to this on Scuzz (UK Sky Channel 364). I like the way that the female vocals works with the male vocals, and that even though they overlap you can hear each one clearly. Something which not many people have noticed is that if you are listening to this in Stereo format (2 Channels, example iPod) when Cristina begins the song he vocals switch from left to right, during the duration of it. Excellent touch!
Track 4 - Within Me:- (I rate 6 out of 10)
Again both are working with each other. However I feel this song is a let down, becuase its not... Cherpy enough. Its quite a sad song. Moving swiftly on...
Track 5 - Devoted:- (I rate 7 out of 10)
Yes another great beginning, something rare, Andrea begins the song. I think this is a great song, and certainly better than Track 4. I personally like the way Cristina makes her voice bend pitch to get this in "There is no time to deny I am near you" (I believe this is what is says, please correct me if I am incorrect.)
Track 6 - You Create:- (I rate 6 out of 10)
This is one of Lacuna Coils favourate tricks, like Aeon and Tight Rope. This swiftly goes right into Track 7 (What I See) and when played on my iPod (with Gapless Playback) it sounds flawless.
Track 7 - What I See:- (I rate 7 out of 10)
Carries on perfectly from Track 6. Either by Mild Crossfading (Xfade) or Gapless Playback (With iTunes and iPod). This song is a sadish song but it has other elements inside it. The lyrics aren't that impressive however I feel there is something good coming up.
Track 8 - Fragements of Faith:- (I rate 8 out of 10)
Again another excellent song, I feel this is something new, have two Cristina's singing. One adding as background (in one ear) and her singing lyrics in the other. The effects of this track cannot be unnoted. However its screaming for more guitar. Please?!
Track 9 - Closer:- (I rate 5 out of 10)
What the "£%$! is that?! I feel this track is a let down, I saw this on Scuzz and didn't really like this song. I will listen to it, but not over and over again. A little further in the song it gets alot better, but I changed the track when I first listened to this CD.
Track 10 - In Visable Light:- (I rate 9 out of 10)
Near perfection, she starts off a little dreay. But it picks up, and that goes well with the song, The words "In Visable Light" is not mentioned in this song and I feel should of been called "Grief is the Light" but that supports my whole, making a poem with song title theory. (lol)
Track 11 - The Game:- (I rate 7 out of 10)
I love the way the vocalists lead into each other, maybe I should make mentioning of the insturments, this all goes well with Andrea "I changed my mind..." I liked this one.
Track 12 - Without Fear:- (I rate 5 out of 10)
Like Track 8, I didn't purtically like this track, and again I will listen to it, but I won't go out of my way to listen to it. Again this song is quite a sad one. Moving swiftly on...
Track 13 - Enjoy the Silence:- (I rate 10 out of 10)
WOOO! (hee) I love this one, this is a cover song and it has been used in an ITV advert. Excellent. I heard this at Download 2006, it was an excellent song and I decied to sing along with it (err... Looks like I wasn't the only one with that bright spark idea).
In total:-
I loved the disc, and have extracted it to my iPod so I don't damage the disc. The cover (a man, I think it Andrea Ferro) taking his face off (or putting it back on), is quite unusal and random. I don't have a clue what its supposed to symbolise.
Price:-
Excellently priced for an album, I got mine on May 6th 2006 (my 16th) and my dad said he only spent £9.99 on it, new. I can only assume that the price is slightly lower now.
Advantages: Great vocals as always, new songs, great lyrics Disadvantages: repetitve, kind of the "same old" things
Lacuna coil is one of my favourite bands, anytime they are in london i try my best to get tickets to see them. I adore Christina Scabbia's amazing voice (female lead singer) and i love their riffs, but this album just appeared to me like they were slacking a bit. It puts the thought into your mind that, you expect it to be more of a greatest riffs album more than an actual new release. With 13 songs on the album, i just kept wondering, is this really ... ...Typical begining of coil, pretty heavy beginning with christina (female lead) singing over it, the lyrics aren't bad. Pretty memorable. I suppose this song is supposed to drag you in and i have to say, it does. It's very catchy and well made but if you've listened to all their other albums you might get a bit bored. Instrumental bit, which actually doesn't need to be there. 5/10

Advantages: Great vocals, better than previous albums, top metal! Disadvantages: none
Lacuna Coil have been about for quite a long time but have taken a while to make it big and break into the European & American markets. They've toured extensively and finally earned a lot of the attention they deserved with their last album "Comalies". Coming off the back of that success they now release "Karmacode" which i feel is probably as good or maybe better than Comalies.
Lacuna Coil are an Italian gothic/metal/rock band with both a male ... ...airtime (which is no bad thing). Scabbia is very strong vocally, an amazing singer, and her voice adds so much to the music of the band. As there was on previous album "Unleashed Memories", there is a slightly arabic feel to a couple of the songs here which adds a nice touch to what is essentially a near-perfect album. Opening track "Fragile" has that "arabic" introduction I just mentioned and starts off the album on a powerful note, with a chorus ...

Advantages: Amazing melodic and heavy riffs, electronic sounding, more upbeat Disadvantages: Doesn't beat the previous albums..
...with lots of complex ideas. Karmacode definately has a mix of distorted, aggressive songs, quieter songs, and more use of electronic instruments. The Italian coilers have packed 13 action and strong songs into this album. So check it out, a different more open and electronic album, still heavy with riffs but packed with speed.
1. Fragile - very thick song, with Cristina just vocally, singing with no words to start off with. This song is packed with ... ...but they have a meaning. Karmacode the name was mentioned in a book so they used it, do to with Italian mathematical meanings. I don't know much use about the face, but this album looks a little weird compared to other albums, and is more plain - but don't let it put you off.

Advantages: Always original and follows its own path. Disadvantages: Not for people who prefer more Mainstream rock.
...ablums and the cover of Karmacode amongst other things stood out to me. I bought it and went home and while I was listening to it i just didn't turn it off. All of the tracks that were on the album definitely deserved another listen. One of the songs that really stood out to me on the Album was the song "Enjoy the Silence", a Depeche Mode cover. What really got me in this song was the was Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro's (the lead singers) voices ... ...It was definitely different to any other rock songs I had heard from artists that are described as similar to them such as Evanescence and Within Temptation. It sounded like a song that would stand out amongst other songs. Another song that I thought was exeptional was "Our Truth". It definitely differed largely from the rest with use of unusual instuments such as the sitar and the dulcimer which wouldn't usually be used in rock music. What struck ...

Advantages: The Depeche Mode cover at the end Disadvantages: The other 12 tracks
Andrea & Cristina's vocals are both glorious on this album. The guitarists are great as is the drummer. This album is quite simply boring, almost all the tracks sound the same and the music is unoriginal. I was expecting much more from this album but it sounds as if the band has forgotten the greatness which was their previous albums. Their first single, 'Our Truth', is nothing special. Their second single, (the Depeche Mode cover) 'Enjoy The Silence', ... ...increases how much I rate this album. Apart from 'Enjoy The Silence' there are no memorable tracks on this album at all. I seriously recommend buying their earlier albums before you buy this album, or if you've bought this album first, go back and buy the earlier ones to see how good they used to be.
On another note, it seems the record label is trying to promote this band using Cristina only as Andrea was almost totally remove from the music video ...

Advantages: Some good lyrics and riffs, interesting theme Disadvantages: Very 'samey-samey' and forgettable.
the previous track. Say the name of the track, and then a line, repeat. Rather annoying after a good previous track. 5/10
12. Shallow Life. I still can't like this one, no matter how much I want to. Perhaps it'll grow but it reminded me too much of 'The Pain'. I hope they avoid these types of song in the future. 5/10
Overall, there are some cracking tracks worth the price. LC have made an interesting concept here and there is nothing wrong with experimenting at all. However, I have hopes for the future, and after this foray in to new ideas, I think they'll move back to tried-and-tested.
My advice is to listen to the previews, and if you like it, like it, (I'm sorry, couldn't resist) buy it, as I will.
If you are a new listener, do not judge LacunaCoil on this album alone. My favourites are 'In A Reverie' and 'Karmacode'. ...
Advantages: Never fail to please, Old school LC is the best, Flawless Disadvantages: 9 Tracks? Not a disadvantage, as they are all fantastic
the band "LacunaCoil" - which only had 6 songs within the album, but definately 6 groundbreaking songs. This song has definately progressed in sound, especially with more harmony, and emotion. This is their 2nd release. However Karmacode (released last year in 2006) was completely different in sound, definately evolving each time they release new music - their new sound is more upbeat and electronic, not so heavy melodic and harmonious metal, which definately is what the coilers do best, but they still never fail to amaze their fans.
1. Circle - is the first track that opens up on the album. Very thick in sound, with the bass and guitars uniting with one-another. The harmony is really nice. This is the kind of song that I would love to hear featured as a soundtrack in a Tomb Raider game, for some reason? It's about running away, and regret ...
