Ladies Night - Kool & The Gang

...=The Act= Kool & The Gang a New Jersey-based Funk and Disco band, who often went into Soul and Jazz at times. The band found fame from the point when they dropped their debut in 1970, but it wasn?t really until later (by about their sixth album in 1973) when they really made an impact as the Funk sound had really formed itself and they were able to come up with material to act as anthems of the time. The height of success for them was in fact once they had watered-down the Funk later on as Kool led the band to more Disco-sounding by the eighties. Advantages: Great Live recording and excellent tracks

...experience all the more exciting for the fans back then and gives us listeners today a new look, or should that be listen, at the songs. I love hearing the individual instruments used and you can really pick them out amongst the singing and cheers, the drummer especially shines and provides a real backbone to the music, of course my real soft spot is for base guitar which in this style of music really provides the heart, soul and funk. I won't go into a detailed song description, most of us would have heard of at least one of the bands tracks, "celebration" and "ladies night" in particular, needless to say all the best Kool & The Gang tracks are included. Advantages: couple of great songs, Natasha can sing when she tries

...I have the previous two albums - always good for the pre -night out cheese fest, but was pretty disappointed with this offering from the kittens. It starts off with a terrible cover, drones on for about 14 songs and then finishes with one of the most depressingly dull ballads ever. "Ladies Night" is awful. I'm sorry but there's no other word for it. I quite liked "Eternal Flame", I forgave them "The Tide is High" and I even let them off "Kids in America", but now it's time to stop. Ok, so I didn't really like the original but there is nothing worse than a bad cover of an already bad song. Nuff said. "Be With You" sits right next to the word boring in the dictionary.
