Advantages: Two outstanding peices of chamber music for an unusual combination of instruments
Disadvantages: On the surface quite contrasting works, listener must be openminded

The Danish Horn Trio have succeeded in producing a fine recording, which incorporates the many different moods and styles demanded from both these challenging works. This is particularly evident in the Adagio Mesto of the Op.40, where the controlled and expressive phrasing compliments the powerfully emotional lamento motif, thought to represent the death of Brahms's mother. Ligeti's Horn Trio is a Hommage à Brahms, also written after his mother's death and written very cleverly around the natural harmonics of the horn, which unfold throughout the work like an organic being. These complex effects are well executed by the horn player and mirrored by the other players. Advantages: Unique flammenco style, beautiful, evocative, scenic
Disadvantages: Absolutely none

...money; this type of recording is unique in the world of folklore and is priceless. If you are aware of Anouar Brahem, then you will find similarities with Thimar (released in 1998 under the ECM label). What you get is 12 tracks, all masterpieces. The album is 59 minutes long approx. The first track kicks in, bonding Moorish chant, Oud, Flammenco and forms of Moorish dancing; all this supported by Rony's percussions. Stephen Dummer brings a jazz feel to the piece too, creating an inimitable fusion. The chemistry works this way throughout the album. Pasion Del Lamento is yet another gorgeous scenery with a supporting voice by Abdul Salam Kheir. Feria kicks in after the sadness with a beaming sunshine, a festive and colourful track that sheds light on an almost out-of-place American-Latin rhythm. Disadvantages: i wouldn't actually call it sergio mendez, due to the fact that, Will.i.am from the black eyed pea's features in over half of the songs !!!
