This Is Not The World - The Futureheads

Advantages: Has an up-beat and rocky feel.The album has a lot of energy with Rocky theme tune like intros.
Disadvantages: This album put me off the band.Dissapointing,noisy and messily composed.

This album really put me off the band and in my opinion their earlier album News and Tributes was much better. I found it dissapointing and really over the top on unbalanced energy. Does it rock? Yeah I guess it does with some real punchy powerful songs that are a bit Maximo Park in feel. But the overal feel of this album is dissapointing as they seem to have tried to squish as much as possible into each song. The harmonies change suddenly, spiky guitar riffs and lots of up-tempo-pop shifts in the music. This makes it feel a bit too noisy or messy and they have lost much of the initial grace or simplicity that made them stand out from the rest. Lyrically and vocally they dont really stand out either and all I can say is thank God ths isn't their first album as hopefully their existing fans will remain loyal and hope for a much ...

This is England.... apparently!

Advantages: Dark, gritty & enthrawling
Disadvantages: A bit slow at times

boyfriend but the weather was bad so we decided to stay in & watch a film instead, I don?t know how he convinced me to watch this but he managed to & I have to say that I was quite impressed. This Is England, isn?t the type of film that I would ever watch again I doubt & it?s not something that everyone will love, after watching the first 15 minutes of this I had partly given up on it as it seemed to be going nowhere, on the face of it this film could be seen as just an excuse for extreme, language, violence & racism however if you take the time to watch this & think about the meaning you?ll clearly see that it?s much more than that. This film has a very strong subject matter & I suggest that if you?re easily offended then this probably isn?t the film for you, however I think this does deserve praise & it appeals to a wide audience, not ...

Advantages: Thomas Turgoose, British, nostalga, powerful, thought provoking
Disadvantages: Depressing

Shaun represents the heart of Britain, though his vulnerability is exploited by the misguiding ideologies at the height of the aggressive "Nationalists". There is alot crammed into a hundred minutes here, and the drama is compelling throughout, especially seen as much of it portrays Meadows' own experiences, but my only criticism would be the ending- which feels somewhat irresolute. This is, however, an assured and un-mistakenly English piece of film making, which plays tribute to one of the most definitive eras of British culture. The soundtracks not half bad either. ...
