In a break from convention, I'm not going to do a track by track listing of this album. It's just not that sort of album. It's got individual songs on it, but they mesh together and interweave so seamlessly, and each song is so difficult to categorise or explain, that to try and talk about ... Read review
It's Jo And Danny may be a daft name for a band, but in this case it's very fitting. This ... more
London duo have made a debut album that is simply the sound of two music lovers pouring every influence they've got onto a four-track recorder. There's no frills,...

It's got individual songs on it, but they mesh together and interweave so seamlessly, and each song is so difficult to categorise or explain, that to try and talk about each song would make even less sense than what I have just written....
I bought this album a few years ago after hearing a snatch of a single song ... ...I have ever heard. I like it when that happens.
Jo Bartlett and Danny Hagan are "It's Jo and Danny". Their sound is like nothing you will have ever heard before. A bit indie, folkish, experimental, funky, laid back, groovy, and most other words you can think of really.

I bought this album a few years ago after hearing a snatch of a single song from it, and it is one of the best albums I have ever heard. I like it when that happens.
Jo Bartlett and Danny Hagan are "It's Jo and Danny". Their sound is like nothing you will have ever heard before. A bit indie, folkish, experimental, funky, laid back, groovy, and most other words you can think of really.
They love music and love sounds - they spent several hours when making this this album throwing rocks at an empty oil drum to try and get the perfect sound for one part of one song. Alongside these sort of sounds are lilting acoustic guitars, drum loops, bagpipes, synthesizers.... and probably a hundred other things you will never quite work out.
They make music because they want to make music, not to sell records and get to number one. This makes them impossible to classify, they just don't sound even close to anyone else, but at the same time it is so accessible and easy to pick up, and just very, very inspiring music.
If you're going to buy one album this year of a band that you've never heard of, make it this one.
If you're only going to buy one album this year, make it this one.
