Trevor Jones - who composed this music - is actually one of the most prolific film composers around, from Time Bandits to Mississippi Burning, and here puts out possibly his most striking score. One of the most memorable scored sequences in 90's movies must surely be the scene in Last of the Mohicans where Daniel Day Lewis is running over a rocky scenery pursuing some indians, with the main theme to this film in the background. It's a tremendous scene mainly because of this music - a stirring cello/violin almost irish arpeggio with the beautiful main theme over the top that is repeated throughout the film at different tempos. It really drives the film along and works extremely well. There are also some pleasant romantic themes as well and in all a good score if a little repetitive to listen to on it's own.
