    Back in 1970. Eric Clapton formed a short-lived band called Derek & The Dominoes. They released an album entitled Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs which, according to www.everyhit.com, didn’t reach the UK top 40 album charts. However, the song Layla was released as a single, and reached no.7 in the UK in August 1972 and no.4 on its March 1982 re-release. Long ago in August 1972, I was a naïve little 18-year-old and must admit that I wasn’t too keen on the song Layla.
