impeccable, mature and emotionally powerful song collection that will no doubt resound just as dramatically with listeners as her landmark third album, I Hope You Dance. Soulful, inward, aching and cautiously celebratory by turns, these exquisite songs and masterful performances are anchored by the timely and hauntingly introspective title tune. Among the 12 other gems are a pair of powerfully rendered Julie Miller originals (the wailing, teeth-gnashing "I Need You" and the eerie, medieval-sounding "Orphan Train"), a wistful Bruce Robison-penned confessional called "Blame It on Me" (to which Robison contributes harmonies) and an angry, show-stopping Matraca Berg sendoff called "You Should Have Lied". --Bob Allen
first two albums showed much promise, they didn't boost her past the middle of the pack. So what's the Nashville solution? Instead of playing to her strengths, make her soprano sound smaller and more compact (think Dolly, not Tammy), de-twang it so she sounds more creamy and dreamy. In other words, try to make her sound more like everyone else. Most of the songs on I Hope You Dance are slow or mid-tempo, building ever so predictably, and with arrangements paying little more than lip service to roots. Womack sounds better with less accompaniment ("I Know Why The River Runs", "Thinkin' With My Heart Again") and best when her drawl prevails ("Does My Ring Burn Your Finger"). And she sounds unbeatable when she's totally involved, as on the best song, "I Feel Like I'm Forgetting Something". And who co-wrote that? Why, Lee Ann did. It's the only such song here, but somebody should take a hint. --John Morthland

Album Reviews: Musician (7/97, p.88) - \"...Womack can handle a trucker's song with genuine aplomb....Womack gets down and wrestles around in true human emotions...\"
Advantages: A mix of music across her career Disadvantages: sometimes a little monotonus!
...LeeAnnWomack is a relative newcomer to the scene, but she certainly made herself known!
This greatest hist CD does, to quote the Ronseal advert, "exactly what it says on the tin"! The 10 tracks featured on the CD are certainly some of her best work.
Track listing is:
1. Never Again, Again - "proper" country - with steel guitars ago-go!
2. You've Got to Talk to Me - one of those tunes you're just not going to be able to get out of your head!
3. Fool - heart-wrenching country at it's best, although not one of my favourite tracks of hers.
4. Little Past Little Rock - a good tune, but not really inspirational lyrics, frankly.
5. (Now You See Me) Now You Don't
6. I'll Think of a Reason Later - great "comedy" track - there's one on every album, and this is a great example! Just listen to the words
7. I Hope You Dance...

Advantages: Atmospheric, different Disadvantages: Needs the right time of day and mood
...I don't think you'll see a bad review of this: it's hard to classify, an acquired taste and needs to be played at the right time (late at night) but it's obviously quality so it's hard to say Bad Things.
Her last album "Nolita" was the same: I don't play it often, but when I do it's late at night and I always enjoy it. It's atmospheric and almost sensual. Air claimed their last album was one for playing to while, er, love was in the air, and this is coming from a similar place.
(Just to make it clear: I play "Nolita" while I'm reading, for which it is equally suited. (For the linguists, where "Nolita" was a mixture of French and English language compositions reflecting Keren Ann's cosmopolitan background - Israeli-born of Dutch and Russian heritage, currently residing in New York and Paris - "Keren Ann" is sung only in English...

I have always been a big fan of Blue and Lee has always been my fave. He is just so extremely talented with a voice of an angel.
This album sees him change from boyband member to solo star and i would have to say that it was definately a good decision to try his hand at his own work.
This album, in my opinion, hears musical influences from such artists as Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross among others.
Debut single, Army of Lovers, starts the album off and as the album plays on, it just gets better and better.
Second Single, Turn Your Car Around, is an acoustic style track which i love to listen...
