Advantages: powerful, aggressive, original, talented, Disadvantages: a couple of tracks not quite at the same high standard
The fourth album by Alexisonfire 'OldCrows / Young Cardinals' has everything you'd expect from this band and a bit more. Powerful guitar riffs, emotionally driven screams and the soothing voice of Dallas Green are all a prominent feature.
Perhaps those who discovered Alexisonfire with their last album 'Crisis' (2006) will be disappointed as OldCrows does not the same appeal to the wider commercial audience. However, the album will please many hardcore fans with an attempt to return to the band's roots and will change minds of those believing Alexisonfire want to write pop-rock songs.
The first track, 'OldCrows', introduces the new album claiming 'We are not the kids we used to be' in true Alexisonfire high tempo, aggressive style. The band display their fantastic ability to mix Dallas' soft vocals with the screams of George ...

***Summary***
A collection of 9 short stories at which Salinger excels. Each story introduces us to a new character and gives us an unedited tour of their life. The general theme which threads the stories and characters together is loneliness and yet the book is also full of hope.

He later attended evening writing classes through Columbia University where he studied under Story Magazine editor, Whit Burnett. It was Burnett who first ...
Advantages: Retro 50's design, very well built indeed. Disadvantages: Poor pickups, v shaped neck may be a problem.
.
Heading south, (I'm sorry to continue the 50's theme but) the bridge is one of those 50's style ashtray types, with three brass saddles (two strings per saddle. Great to look at but hard to adjust it to get the right intonation on the higher notes, I've found. The scratch plate is an old fashioned 5 screw one in black. Overall, the guitar balances just right, looks very good and is very well built indeed, not something you can always say of all Fender Japan built models. The action was set just right on my example, so i've had no need to really alter that over the years.
The sound: this is where we leave the 50's behind and zoom up to, well, the 90's. The pickups differ from the old fashioned Tele pickup arrangement by having a Strat pickup at the neck and a switch position that has a choice of five positions, as opposed to the usual three ...
