Advantages: catchy rhythm, lively music, easy listening and includes marleys best songs Disadvantages: reggae is not everyones taste in music and can be found boring to some people

This album was made after Bob Marley died. This album includes many of bobs number 1 hits from other albums he produced. Nearly all of bobs songs have a meaning to ... ...catchy songs. Like most albums they include a few songs you dislike and a few songs you really enjoy, I think that this album starts off with the better songs and towards the end they do start to drag a little. But all the way through they have a really great beat to them and a liveliness that are in nearly all of bobs songs except the slower love songs which are just as good.

Three little birds This song brings light to a grey day it has got to be the most lively song in the album. It was originally on the exodus album.
Buffalo soldier This was the hit single from the fantastic confrontation album. This song tells the story of the black men being taken into the ranks of the union army to kill indians. A great song with true meaning to it.

This is the first ever album i bought of reggae. And i loved it. Ever since i had this album all i basically listen to is reggae. It is a great album and has a really great rhythm and beat to it. I have got to admit i think this is the best bob marley album i have bought as other albums have alot of songs that drag along, but this album is a collection of beautiful energetic songs.
The sound quality of this album is very good. It is all live recorded and recorded with real instruments which give a great effect, atmosphere and sound. Also reggae is a different sound completely to any other music you will ever listen to.
If you are interested in trying out reggae i suggest this is the album you should try. It is a great album to start with and it will give you a taste for the music and if you dont like it, you probably wont like any other types of reggae either. I found this album great to listen to and i couldnt stop listening to it for about around 3 weeks. I recomend this album if you are interested in trying out reggae.
if you decide to buy the album, i hope you enjoy it
Advantages: Fantastic tracks, very listenable album Disadvantages: Sun is SHining is not on it
Since seeing The Wailers perform at the London Rise Against Racism festival, it reminded me of how many great songs they have in their repertoire with BobMarley and decided it was long overdue to buy a Best Of compilation.
The album starts off with Is This Love the Marley penned classic from 1978 and the song really needs no introduction. It was taken from the Kaya album, which revolved around the duel themes of love and marijuana, and this instance the song was about love. It is a beautiful song, and certainly at the Rise concert, got the crowd singing. It is followed by No Woman, No Cry originally from the Natty Dread album and is about the struggle of life in the Trenchtown, the rundown part of Kingston, Jamaica where Bob grew up with his mother after his father died. The version of the song on Legend is not from Natty Dread ...
He may be dead, but his songs live on. He was the Reggae voice of Jamaica. His songs are full of hope and freedom. He is a symbol of unity, of what can be achieved. He gives hope to people who need it, courage and optimism. His songs brace all cultures, hit every heart of every person. He’s the inspiration behind black music. He put Jamaica on the map.
But, all his talents and all the fame in the world could not save him from death. By the age of 36, his life was ended. Yet, his songs are just as good as before, his message just as strong.
The album ‘Legend’ the Best of BobMarley and the Wailers, is by far my precious CD, even though I have hundreds, I regard this as one of my best. It has something about it, which makes me put it on top of my CD rack. Yet, I can’t put my finger on it.
The songs ...
Advantages: all his commercial classics in one Disadvantages: card board cover
which has been mixed and dubbed not taking away the true reggae value or the mood that Marley hopes to create.

The I Threes: Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt (background vocals). Producers: Steve Smith, Bob Marley and The Wailers, Chris Blackwell, Errol Brown. Reissue producer: Bill Levenson. Recorded between 1972 and 1981. Originally released on Island (90169). Digitally remastered by Ted Jensen (2001, Sterling Sound, New York). Although reggae is still perceived as a minor specialist genre, when it hits the button right, the music captures the hearts of the masses. Marley is a giant similar to Elvis Presley: both continue to sell vast numbers of records long after their deaths, and both are clear leaders of their respective genres. This album is the most perfect selection of hits. The running order is unbeatable, each track is made for the next. There is a superb four-CD box set available for serious collectors, but for those who want to put on a CD at any time of the day this will always hit the spot.
