What can I say about Bob Marley that has not already been said, so I'd thought I'd say what I wanted too in the form of a poem, it is my own work and hope you like it, here it goes:,
Bob Marley sang many songs of the Black struggle for freedom, He repeated the Rasta generation whose leaders were but lost, His people held at ransom their cries and protest at a cost, But many years after his death his dreams lived on, His music louder in voice and song.
He uplifted broken spirits, With the wisdom of his lyrics, With his chants of 'get up and stand up', His motives were nothing but pure, But he was still ridiculed by those who were not sure, For they felt intimidated by the tone of his skin.
There were times when he could have given up and screamed, When armies of whites crushed the mirrors of his dreams, And the only life that remained within him was the echo of his rich voice, But he turned back to the shinning moonlight, And realized that he was a free spirit if only in mind and not in sight.
In the frozen cold maybe he saw Mandela's rainbow nation, That would occur many years later, Just maybe in the empty sky of his eyes it was all clear, That one day there would be no war or hatred, Where the African race would no longer had to wait, For their rights that should never have been denied, Coming way to late after centuries of rain.
Bob Marley is a legend who will never fade, his bright light shines as boldly as ever before, as a new generation take up his music, just like every other will after this.
He is an inspiration to musicians and ordinary people alike, regardless of who ever they are. In my view simply the best, a gifted man who's life was sadly taken by the deadly disease cancer. His memory however will live on!
