‘Boom Boom Boom Boom’, how many people out there remember that one? John Lee Hooker is a pure blues artist, he’s been one of the greats since 1948. Yes… dating back to World War II. He comes from Mississippi, so I don’t think I have to explain any more of that… the hometown of Jazz, R&B and soul greats. His voice is deep and husky, and his toe tapping jazz tunes sure make you feel like you should be sitting on a veranda in Tennessee somewhere. (Wearing those denim overalls, with a cask of whiskey… not a glass). This is a great album for the serious Rhythm & Blues listener, even if you’re not a fan or a bit of the uneducated side when it comes to music.. have a listen… this is how music began! The story of the legend that is Bruce Lee

Advantages: Great actors, good showing of Lee's life
Disadvantages: Parts altered from the truth

Hornet in 1966, as Kato. His first movie role as a main star was in The Big Boss in 1971, but it wasn't until his movie Enter The Dragon was released in 1973 post-humously that he became an International superstar. Bruce Lee died suddenly of a Cerebral Oedema in 1973, leaving him to become the legend he is today. Now, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story is based on a book written by his widow Linda Lee-Caldwell called "The Man Only I Knew". Therefore we can be quite sure that most of the things we are seeing a true and accurate portrait of the life of the young star, unlike other biographical movies I have seen! The movie starts with Lee as a teenager, being sent over to live in America by his father to escape a life of crime he was creating for himself. John Peel - a radio legend

Advantages: Great story, lots of humour
Disadvantages: Sad ending

He was one of our most legendary disc jockeys, not one of those DJ's that rabbled on insistently about things that are absolutely no interest to the listener, but a disc jockey that put the music first. John Peel was if anything quite a reserved character, down to earth & very endearing. I loved his dry wit & although some of the music he played on his late night radio shows left a lot to be desired, he won the hearts & minds of so many listeners over the years. There are many bands & individual artists that would never have made it in the music world if it hadn't been for John Peel, and that includes some household names. He was the latter day 'X' factor all in one, send it your tape recordings & if he thought it had potential it was played on his late night show. From there, who knows?
