Legend (The Best Of The Early Years) - Ray Charles

Advantages: Superb performance by Jamie Foxx
Disadvantages: Long and dull at times

..., however famous they are, is that more often than not, there are long boring bits that don't translate well onto the screen. However, having recently thoroughly enjoyed Will Smith's interpretation of Muhammad Ali, and hearing that Jamie Foxx gave the performance of a lifetime as Ray Charles, I decided it was worth a go. I am not particularly familiar with Ray Charles' music, although I realised during the course of the film that I knew more about it than I had realised and I think that most people will have a similar experience. It certainly isn't necessary to be familiar with the music or the man, although it would enhance the viewing experience. Jamie Foxx is truly superb as Ray Charles. ...would be hard to resist this early Kool & The Gang work as they show how they can build up tunes up on some the most exciting drum creations, which is complemented by the way that Kool gets down to the deep bass work to assist it in the best way he can. Year: 1971 I have to say that this was a pretty unmemorable one here and one which needs a little more time to get into as although it sees the band getting down to the same sorts of stuff which made them so big in the game, it wasn?t really until I heard the funky George Brown breaks in the drumming where I really took notice and once that fell into place, the rest of the track seemed to make more sense as they make a song which takes from the Funk of the late sixties. **Four... Advantages: the best compilation of his early stuff
Disadvantages: if you own many of his albums you will find these tracks on them

...this is a brilliant introduction to many of bob\'s early less known tracks that have very thought provoking lyrics. throught his music he manages to say many simple things that make you think yet you would never think of them unless you\'d herd it. he manages to grasp the obvious and turn it in to something deep and meaningful. It has many lively ska tracks to get you grooving such as mr. chaterbox. basically there is not one bad track and it contains all brilliant tracks. to me it is like the legend album but you get 3 cd\'s and not many people have herd of the tracks therefore it\'s a new experience which is great to show your friends and get them into bob. it\'s a must. a brilliant comilation....
