...The Slim Shady LP was the 1999 debut commercial album from Detroit rap superstar Eminem aka Slim Shady. Since its release you'd have to have been living in a cave not to have heard of Eminem, he's probably one of the most successful rappers ever, with a bank roll that only Dr Dre and Jay-Z and their business projects can compare to, love him or hate him Eminem is one of the all time greats in rap. The album debuted at #2 in the US Billboard Album charts and sold 283,000 copies in its first week, it has since gone 5x Platinum.
Eminem originally released the 'Infinite' EP as a debut in 1996 on an independent record label, when speaking of the record Eminem says -

Advantages: Consistent quality Disadvantages: A couple of fillers
..."Already Platinum" is the debut solo album from the Houston rap artist, Slim Thug. This came out in 2005, following his signing to Pharrell Williams' record company, Star Trak, and so despite the fact that the styles contrast so heavily, you get this Gangsta Rap perfromer do what he does on some Netunes beats. To most, the artist is most well-known for his collaboration with Gwen Stefani on "Luxurious" and with Beyonce's "Check On It".

I originally heard this one on the Madden 2006 soundtrack, and it reinforced my liking for his music. On it, you have The Neptunes attempt their best at a Gangsta Rap beat as they comt up with heavy, bassy synth, which gives Slim the best foundations for him to then build upon with raps.

Advantages: Phenomenal, yet sick Debut Disadvantages: Some weaker moments as expected
...adored over sales and exposure. Unfortunately, that is the relative problem with the music industry when it comes to rap... this always happens... until 1999 when everything changed.
Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, was a hip-hop fan since youth. In listening to his idols such as Nas, Biggie, Redman, Rakim, Outkast, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, N.W.A. and many more, he wanted to be like these artists, who never cared about selling out (at least not during this time), and only wanted to bring realness and respect to hip-hop music. After a troubled childhood, he finally got to record his first EP entitled Infinite and released it in 1996. Poor sales and lack of exposure plagued the otherwise worthy album and it never sold anything. Soon after he adapted a sort of changed style, creating an semi insane hip-hop alter-ego named Slim Shady...
