Number of tracks- 15 Genre- Rock Lenny Kravitz is one of the most gifted male solo artists around today and he has been making music for a long time. Lenny was born in 1964 and released his first album in 1989 called 'Let love rule'. His music has gone from strength to strength ever since with albums like 'Mama said', and 'Fly away', the title tracks of which are both on this album.
With such successful songs as "Are you gonna go my way", "It ain't over 'till it's over", and "Fly away" there surely can't be a music fan alive who hasn't heard of Lenny Kravitz or listened to some of the music he inspired. Many of the songs on the album you will not know by name but most will be instantly recognisible the first time you listen to them.
Vocally, Lenny is at his best when he's performing songs with a heavy rock beat throughout. However, one of his most memorable songs is a ballad which he wrote himself, (as he does with most of his music), for his then wife, actress Lisa Bonnet.
Greatest Hits, if you say it fast enough, can mean something else entirely but in this instance it means exactly what it says. The album is a compilation of some old songs and some more recent ones, some hard rock and soft ballads and they are all classics. 'Again' is your typical love song but with a solid rock beat in the background. Like many of the other songs on the album this song is very engaging and will have you singing along in no time (albeit probably not very well but you'll still enjoy it). 'It ain't over 'till it's over' has a deep bassline with a fantastic vocal range over the top of it and just so you know if you're already singing along, this is probably the song on which you're going to sound the worst so make sure you're on your own. My favourite track on the album, 'Can't get you off my mind', is a soulful blend of soft rock and ballad with a strong rock section at the end where the drums kick in, excellent song.
The whole album is a work of art. From the popular classics like 'Fly away' to the less mainstream classics such as 'Mr. Cab driver' and 'Always on the run', this c.d is guaranteed to keep you entertained for a very long time. There's something for everyone and it's well worth getting hold of.
