Advantages: Emotive, expressive story based in France during the Revolution Disadvantages: None
CD REVIEW:
This CD performance captures many emotions, and in the wonderful music composed by Claude-MichelSchonberg expresses the nature of the French Revolution very effectively.
Their are 2 CD's provided with this album. The tracks are thought provoking and musically complex.
The confrontation between Val Jean and Javert (Disc 1) brings melodic call and response between the two characters - a concept revisited throughout the performance.
Thenardier (Played by Barry James) is fantastic throughout - peforming Master of the House, and Beggar of the Feast. He is the comical character of LesMiserables, and bound to produce a few smiles when listening to this CD.
The story is seperated into the following tracks on the CD:
1. Prologue
2. Valjean's Soliloquy
3. Empty Chairs At Empty Tables
4. Every Day
5. At The End ...
Advantages: Great songs, great scenes Disadvantages: Takes too long to get served at the bar
I must have been to see LesMiserable at least 9 times and cannot rate it highly enough. The first time we saw it we had front stall seats, which actually cost around £50.00 at that time, and Colm Wilkinson was playing the lead (Jean Valjean).

However he is treated as an ex-con by everyone he comes into contact with, except for a local priest, who gives him a bed for the night. Jean Valjean decides to leave the priest's house in the early morning, taking with him ...
Advantages: Brilliant, touching, lovely story Disadvantages: none
emotions. I found and still find that in musicals much of the acting is found within the way the songs are sung. In this case i have to say that the songs were sung full of emotion, the songs were heavy with what the character is feeling. This was so well done that the effect was of a one watching real lives interacting through a peep hole. It is so realistic that that must be a sign of how good the acting was.
You may also be interested in knowing that Andrew Loyd Webber, famous in the muscal world for musicals like Cats has never reached LesMiserable callibre. Les Mis. music was written by Claude-MichelSchönberg, the lyrics were written by Herbert Kretzmer. The original musical, in French, is by Alain Boublil and Claude-MichelSchönberg and based on the novel by Victor Hugo.
One last thing, if you are opting between watching ...
