Advantages: If you want a very generic mix CD this could be for you. Disadvantages: Many tracks are either remixes of commerical hits, or at least 4 years old.
Having long been a fan of the Hed Kandi brand, and of funky house music I decided to reluctantly purchase 'The Mix 2009'. My reluctance came from reading the tracklisting on the back of the Album - Shakedown 'At Night', X-Press 2 'Lazy' Afro Medusa 'Pasilda' and others are all relatively old tracks. If the theme of this album had been similar to the Hed Kandi classics CD in 2006 it would be understandable - but this edition professed to be 'The Mix 2009'. On previous outings the main two CD's always featured the biggest tracks of the year and nothing else - a sort of House Music annual. The 'Chill-out/Wind-Down' themed third CD each time had previously been the only disc to feature 'classic house'. The Mix 2009 certainly isn't and if a general overview of 2009 in house music is what you're after then perhaps it would be better to look ...
Advantages: packed full of hits, some lesser known, as well as a CD of new anthems in the making Disadvantages: Heard them all before? Possibly! But we still love them
new to trance, some may be, or if you are looking for a walk down memory lane and haven't bought one of these albums in a few years you may just enjoy what Dave has blended together. The albums saving grace is CD 3 which does have a more up-to-date selection of club tracks for your aural enjoyment.
So how does it breakdown? As i've said briefly, CD's 1 and 2 are made up of staple classic tracks from seminal trance artists such as Matt Darey, Chicane, Angelli & Nelson, Paul Van Dyk, Faithless, the list goes on! CD 3 brings us bang into 2009, or well more technically some of the tracks that were big towards the latter end of 2008. It would be unfair to judge this CD on the lack of real upfront 2009 tracks, having only been released 3 months into a new year.
For me personally, out of the 2 classic CD's, the second has to take all ...
Excellent Concert held in November 2002 one year after George Harrison's untimely death.
Disc One is the complete concert featuring an all star band including Eric Clapton; Ravi & Anoushka Shankar; Billy Preston; Joe and Sam Brown; Jools Holland; fellow ex-Beatles Ringo Starr & Paul McCartney; Travelling Wilburys Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty and Dhani Harrison, looking very much like his father in the 1960s.
The vast array of George Harrison's work is featured as well as a wonderfully funny comic interlude by members of Monty Python singing Sit on my Face and The Lumberjack Song. George Formby's I'll See you in my Dreams closes the show. The disc is easy to navigate allowing access to individual songs.
Disc Two has the Theatrical Version of the concert along with band rehearsals, Monty Python backstage and interviews with many ...
