The music is mostly instrumental taking influences fro Jazz, Rock, Classical and Folk music but then this is progressive rock and what do you expect, there is some wonderful haunting melodies in there as well as the more rocky stuff, and in my opinion it is only a matter of time before Dutch progressive rock makes a comeback..................... ...: The opening song Simarik (Spoilt) is the hook, the catchy tune that grabs the listener and pulls them into a harem of succulent and mystical tunes. It soars with rai violins and pentatonic scales, and makes you want to dance. This track has an exciting feel: an aggressive vocal performance is well complemented by strong percussion. The original kisses in the song (which are his own) have been copied the world over. This song holds the accolade of being one of the most covered songs in music history. 2. Olurum Sana (I'd Die For You) is a song that lent itself as a title to his third album, and starts with a killer guitar riff, sneakily breathing its way into your ears with sinous scales and rapturous, breathless verses. The transition of this live work from the very naïve In the Heat of the Morning to the splendid Rock’n’Roll Suicide perhaps couldn’t be more stark but throughout quality is rarely compromised and it acts as a superb piece that helps us understand what was going on in the music scene at this time. Added colour is provided by the superb and exhaustive notes that combine with the chat and interviews to give a clear picture of the organisation and atmosphere of these unique gigs.
