Brotherly Love

Advantages: Gripping and great entertainment
Disadvantages: If you were picky you could pull holes in the plot

to the overall enjoyment. From Bobby Mercer who takes on the role of leader, through to Jack who seems highly emotional and not completely at ease with the roughness of revenge, each character is unique and helps you in one way or another to connect with them. I suppose if you wanted to get critical and over analyse the film, you could probably pick holes in both the plot and performances. But then for once I didn't notice the holes or any dodgy performances as the overall factor is that "Four Brothers" is a very entertaining film which captures your attention from the moment it starts and doesn't let go until after the credits have rolled. What in anyone else's hands other than director John Singletons, "Four Brothers" would have turned into just another average action flick, but instead we have a film which delivers plot, emotion ...

Brotherly love in modern China

Advantages: An interesting look at modern China, very entertaining
Disadvantages: Dwells on sex, silly at times

Just before the Cultural Revolution, Baldy Li's mother and Song Gang's father met, fell in love and married. The two young boys took to each other immediately, and soon became fast friends. However, their comfortable existence is soon to be steam-rolled by the trials and tribulations of the Cultural Revolution. The family is of landlord stock, albeit in the distant past, and they become class enemies, forced to constantly self-criticise and accept abuse from those of a better class. Song Gang's father is beaten to death and Baldy Li's mother soon falls into a state of pining from which it is clear she will never emerge. Will the teenage brothers be able to survive on their own? Review of Brothers - Yu Hua

Go on, Let In Some Love....

Advantages: Usual awesome vocals, strong,emotional lyrics
Disadvantages: bit too loved up at bits

albums ("Dizzy up the Girl" and "Gutterflower."), the songs "listen" and "become", add to the amazingly moving, and inspiring, words. In these, as you might imagine, the emphasis is on growing as a person, and learning from the experience, and wisdom of others. These songs are a nice starting point. I have to admit, that thanks in part to some of these songs, recently I have been changing my attitudes towards myself and others, in some ways. And I never knew how satisfying it could be to just stop trying so hard to please, and let go of some of the pressure I put on myself. "Let love in", being as it is, a fantastic album, can be both eye-opening and challenging, somehow without any judgemental, or 'holier than thou' undertones. Impressively composed and organised, this album just gets better and better the more attention you give it ...
