Advantages: A good excuse to re-discover a great album. Disadvantages: You may have bought it a couple of times before.
Having recently re-discovered this album I had forgotten just how great it is. The album contains classics such as 'Helter Skelter', 'Yer Blues', 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' and Harrison's awesome 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps'. In my opinion this is a sometimes overlooked album when the Beatles catalogue is considered and often remains a source of disagreement between fans. For me 'TheWhite Album' remains an incredible and often ambitious piece of work. In my opinion 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' contains one of Lennon's best vocals and the instrumentation is beautiful throughout, especially McCartney's bass parts and Harrison's playing on 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps'. Despite containing a few of my least favourite Beatles songs I still find it full of inventive lyrics and interesting musical ideas. For me a genuine classic. ...
Advantages: A Few Of Good Tracks Disadvantages: Nowhere Near The Same Degree Of Quality As Their Earlier Work
reaches the heights of their best works, it still manages to entertain and it feels more upbeat than some of their other albums with a high tempo and short overall time making it a whistle stop tour of The Band's 'final' album.

The Warner Brothers president, Mo Ostin, a friend of Robbie's put up the money for the film but wanted the album to be released on Warner Brothers also, so the group needed to fulfil their contract with Capitol and then ...
Advantages: Some stonking 70's hit singles Disadvantages: B sides are a little ropey soundwise
launching into a roll up to the key change. Great stuff. Just For You which hit the top 10 soon after is a faster paced number with ringing chords and big singalong chorus. Probably their most remembered song is Let's Get Together Again, a UK no 8 which is a slower song, with sliding chords and one of those classic early 70's "hands in the air" choruses so favoured by such as the Bay City Rollers. Many of the band's themes were optimistic love songs and this is one "please come home, I'm on my own" and a great piece of production brings the guitars and drums right to the top of the mix at the last verse.
So three top 10 hits in a row meant the Band were major chart players and this was stiffened with their No 2 hit the sounds of Goodbye My Love, a descending chord 3/4 drumbeat provides the background to a sad tale of airport ...
