performance she always does, how can one actress play the same character so many times? The location for the movie is wintery and charming, the sort of community you would love to grow up in; with the sort of people you would love to be surrounded by. Kind of dated, but still very much with the rest of the world, the timeless nature of the filming actually makes you realise that if the internet was not referenced on numerous occasions the movie could very well be set in the 1970's or 1980's. I never laughed at Lars And The Real Girl once, and come to think of it even got close, not even generating a smile. Neither was I touched by the movie, it was just one of those movies that passed the time but failed to stimulate me in anyway shape or form. Lars and the real girl- Different and original

Advantages: Story.Performances
Disadvantages: Idea is a bit silly.Might appear to be boring for a few

I decided to watch this film after I was very impressed by Ryan Gosling's outstanding performance in Half Nelson. Directed by Craig Gillespie it also stars Emily Mortimer and Paul Schneider. Lars is an introverted guy who decides to move to the garage since his brother and sister-in-law moved in. He keeps to himself,goes to work where he hardly speaks to anyone and comes back home but stays away from socialising from his brother Gus(Paul Schneider) and his wife Karin(Emily Mortimer). They become happy when Lars suddenly comes to them and announces he has his girlfriend coming over dinner. The surprise is the fact that the girlfriend is an anatomically correct doll that he ordered online!! Wondering how such a film will progress? The Film Lars and the Real Girl is a 2007 film. Lars is a lonely, reclusive, young man who lives in the converted garage of his brother's house. He recoils from society and companionship and has to be tackled and pinned down by his sister-in-law, Karen,to convince him to come round for dinner. A co-worker Margo shows a strong interest in him but Lars ignores her as he does his other porn obsessed co-worker until one day he mentions sex dolls to Lars who is intrigued. He orders one of the dolls and strangely starts to act as if it is real. He also starts to come out of his shell and starts to visit his brother and his wife. He brings the doll along with him and they're clearly abit worried. They take him to the doctor who diagnoses Lars with a delusion, advising them to just humour him as it will eventually wear itself out ...
