This album was released in 99/00 and went back to Jay Z's street sound which sent this album to the top of the charts. It was however dazzled with enough commercial tracks to cater for the mainstream audience including the well known Big Pimpin which is by far and away the best track.
Not many of these tracks are performed live but any fans that were lost with more commercial releases were bought back with this dark album. Timbaland also makes some appearances which gives the production a step up in class
So Ghetto - Lyrics are always going to be good and this is no exception, not a favourite but a reasonable start Do It Again - Beanie Sigel and Amil features on this and Amil's distinctive voice is always worth a listen. Good track on the album Dope Man - Hard lyrics about a drug topic, the guy can tell a good story and you switch on to listen. INtriguing song this one but good on the ear Things That You Do - This features Mariah Carey on chorus and produced by Swizz Beats who can be wildly inconsistent. This is one of his better productions though and a sweet addition from Mariah gives a good mixture of rough and smooth with this. Really good track Its Hot (Some Like It Hot) - A Timbaland production to follow up the Swizz Beats track and this tune becomes a bit of a pop at 50 Cent. At the time he wasnt really that known but it was in reply to 50s 'How to Rob' track which was pretty poor to be honest. Some good lyrics on here aswell which i think bought back some fans Snoopy Track - Juvenile features on another Timbaland production. One for the cars as big bass hits you hard S.Carter - Not one of his best and seems like a filler with unimaginitive vocals Pop 4 Roc - Another one which is just abouot acceptable. Featured raps from Amil, Beanie Sigel & Memphis Bleek from the Rocafella label, they just dont come anywhere near him in regards to level of performance Watch Me - Dr Dre on this one and its good to hear these two on a record together Big Pimpin - UGK (Underground Kings) feature on this Timbaland hit. The video was quite popular with the fellas and the track was later used in a Linkin Park mash up. One of his best tracks and one of the best head boppers around Theres Been A Murder - I straight away think Taggart when i see this title, maybe he didnt know that everyone tries to say it in a scottish accent but the lyrics on this are good. maybe Taggart should have had a feature!? Come and Get Me - Weird one this, Timbaland on one of his experimental turns again but it does work. A switch half way through turns this into a long track of over 6 minutes but good beats keep you listening NYMP - Another one where the production is average but the lyrics shine through. Jigga My Ni**a - A track taken from the Ruff Ryders album produced by Swizz Beats, this is a bonus track and one for the clubs. Girls Best Friend - One last Swizz Beats production to complete your bonus. Song taken from the Blue Streak soundtrack, again not his best but it got a single release and did pretty well.
I think overall it wasnt bad but more for die hard Jay Z fans than the pop rap fans he has. If you can get it cheap why not, but id probably save your money for a more commercially friendly release. Live the dream

Advantages: Good Beats, lyrics good, catchy beats, hip hop classic, pimp anthem Disadvantages: the bonus tracks are put together as one song so you have to wait a while to hear them
