Review of Life In Cartoon Motion - Mika by Seresecros

Advantages: TBA
Disadvantages: TBA

This review is being rewritten at the moment, and will reappear when I'm happy with it. I'm currently rewriting all of my old reviews to make them better and more in line with 'proper' reviews like you see on the liks of Pitchfork or Stylus, and naturally that's going to take a bit of work. Sorry for being massively inconvinient, but that's just how I roll, folks! I'll try to rewrite this review as quickly as possible, but for the moment I've written ...
...serve as a place holder until my glorious full and proper review is created. An awful album, due mostly to the hideous and infantile music and Mika's terrible songwriting ability. When the music is fun, his voice inevitably spoils things with it's mock pretentions of equalling Jeff Buckley and Freddie Mercury. An awful album, I repeat. ... Read review

Fun and frolics with Mika!
Review of Life In Cartoon Motion - Mika by nuttynaomi

Advantages: Fun, Happy, Cheerful
Disadvantages: a little childish

...made me buy his album Life In Cartoon Motion from Amazon (£8.98) It’s full of fun and happy songs which I just love everyday. It never seems to get boring! ----------------------------- What’s on the CD:- ----------------------------- There are 11 tracks in total on the CD and all are pretty good, although a couple are somewhat trying on the patients!! ----------------------------- 1. First of all it starts the happy hour and a bit of playing ...
...this one very very very well by now! With its catchy lyrics about colours and a really high pitched voice which I have mastered the art of!! It was this track alone that made Mika his fortune and weeks at number 1 in the charts. Good on’ya! ----------------------------- 2. Then we roll into “Lollipop” which is a curious track, like all the tracks on the CD! About sucking on a lollipop…I think i'll stop now! A bit like Grace Kelly, happy and fun ... Read review

ELTON, FREDDIE, SCISSORS - MIKA MERGES ALL!
Review of Life In Cartoon Motion - Mika by lece2

Advantages: A wider range of music - amazing!
Disadvantages: May not appeal to all tastes. Fantastic tracks mean that other 'not-so-great' songs (not many) are unfairly compared.

Who is this guy? I have to say that I personally think he is absolutely brilliant and someone for us to focus on in 2007 - I really feel it is his year. I knew I had to have this album when I heard the musical genius masterpiece, that is his number one single Grace Kelly. This is just what I have been waiting for. His music mirrors aspects of Elton John, Freddie Mercury and Scissor Sisters; all of which I love already so he couldn't really go wrong ...
...'sunshine' music. It is bouncy, fun and he exudes eccentricity! You only have to see his album cover to know that you are instantly in for a really good album. It's worth listening to lyrics of Mika's tracks because sometimes however bizarre or fun they might sounds, they often ring quite true. I recently heard him referred to as a "one-hit wonder" but I think that person was very much mistaken. As with all my reviews, I will go through track ... Read review

Suck On My Lollipop
Review of Life In Cartoon Motion - Mika by markd_uk

Advantages: Catchy, upbeat and entertaining
Disadvantages: Not quite the greatest album ever made, a little repetitive in some places

Rarely does an album catch my attention enough to make me write about it. The last one to inspire a review was Lily Allen’s “Alright Still”, with its evocative mix of styles and innovative lyrics and her beautiful, lilting voice. Mika’s “Life In Cartoon Motion” album, however, captured my imagination enough this morning to make me forget all about vacuuming the pub before opening and instead sat at the bar tapping my foot along to its upbeat, entertaining ...
...in to my music collection thanks to Terry Wogan’s insistence that he play the hit single “Grace Kelly” repeatedly, every-single-bleeding-morning-at-7:30 when my alarm went off. Entertaining as that single is, it gets a bit tedious when heard repeatedly. Then I saw the album and thought ‘what the hell, it’s got a good title and I need something different for the pub – they’re getting a bit fed up of Lily Allen these days.’ And, to be blunt, I’m glad ... Cartoon motion leaves you dizzy!
Review of Life In Cartoon Motion - Mika by piggypine

Advantages: Great mix of musical styles
Disadvantages: Not enough tracks and bad flow

Mika burst into the charts earlier this year with the amazing track "Grace Kelly" his style seems unique yet as you listen to his album you can pick up influences of many different bands. When I first heard "Grace Kelly" I thought it was the band Orson, until I made a point of finding the single. Now, I'm a stay at home mum more used to knowing what the Tweenies are up to rather than the music charts so I'd never heard of Mika, but his fun filled ...
...captured my interest and I found myself listening out for his next release, I was even more impressed with the fantastic "Love today" and decided I'd treat myself and buy his album "Life in cartoon motion" I don't usually write albums reviews as they're notoriously tricky however I am so in love with the album I wanted to write about it. You are caught straight away by the psycadellic album cover, almost 1950's in it's design with bold pattern and ... Read review
