Advantages: another outstanding album from Mobb Deep Disadvantages:
...MobbDeep produces some of hip-hop’s best night music – it’s dark, stark and cold. The Queensbridge duo (Havoc and Prodigy) manage to consistently create their own distinctive East Coast sound which benefits not just from what they put in to it but what they leave out. They have a stark and minimal style that matches their cold and practically emotionless lyrics. MobbDeep are one of the most consistent hip-hop acts out there. This is their fourth album (although few heard of them prior to “TheInfamous” which brought them to light with the anthem “Shook Ones Part. II” before that they were still developing their own unique style with “Juvenile Hell”). When a hip-hop act brings out a great album, it’s usually the case you have to prepare to be disappointed with their next release, well MobbDeep are one of the few exceptions. MobbDeep...

Advantages: Such a consistent album Disadvantages: Flawless
...Hip hop is not suppose to be perfect. It is suppose to break rules and channel emotions to the rest of the world who may or may not be familiar with life in the PJ's. Yes, this is a nihilistic record and the subject material may be monotonous at times. However, you don't need to make a groundbreaking record to be great. P and Hav come across tough on their albums only because being a punk where they are from will get you bodied (killed). I wish everyone could rap as happy as Will Smith but we can't. We need artists like MobbDeep to reflect the dark realities of street life so the gangsta government and mainstream media can't brainwash the masses. Violence has fueled hip hop like it does Hollywood.
With that being said, this album is dope from tracks 1-14. It is the overlooked gem in the Mobb Collection. The beats put me to a place i...

Advantages: all great tracks, smooth jazzy beats Disadvantages: none
...this undoubtedly is one of the best rap albums ever made, the production on this is gritty but really good, it has haunting piano samples and drum loops which really suit the dark mood of the songs and the album, havoc and prodigy are really smooth rappers as well, they may not be as charismatic as say, biggie, nas, or Big L, but they are still great, they both have really good flows(especially prodigy), really good lyrics, multi syllable rhyming and wordplay, the subject matter on this album is really dark too, mobbdeep rap about running from police, friends in prison, depression, and various other things, although now mobbdeep have signed to g unit and are no as good, back in 1995 they were great, if you are a rap fan i would highly recommend this, if you dont already have it, you will not be disappointed...
