Additional notes

Album Notes: With their appealing jazz-funk fusion and proto-acid jazz jams, Roy Ayers Ubiquity had some winning moments in the 1970s. One of them, "Running Away," can be found on 1977's LIFELINE. A disco-infused dance hit, "Running Away" works a burbling groove that induces shimmying and shaking upon first listen. Some of that magic spills over into the other tracks on LIFELINE, though the album suffers some from dated production and concessions to the trends of the time. Even so, Ayer's tasteful vibes work keeps things cooking, as does the funky playing of his ensemble.

Album Reviews: Mojo (Publisher) (p.121) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "'This Side Of Sunshine' is a gorgeous summer-vibed opener, while the propulsive, party groove, 'Cincinnati Growl' shows off Ayers' vibes prowess."

Review of Music From B-Boy (Original Game Soundtrack) - Various Artists by XICripZ

Advantages: Good collection from all areas of the B-Boy foundations
Disadvantages: Not enough Hip Hop for a breakin' soundtrack

...& The Gang 10. Don't Sweat The Technique - Eric B & Rakim 11. Brother Green (The Disco King) - Ayers, Roy 12. Get On The Good Foot - James Brown 13. Brothers On The Slide - Cymande 14. Holy Ghost - Bar-Kays 15.: Mexican Millenium - Babe Ruth 16. Rated X - Kool & The Gang 17. Cold Sweat - James Brown 18. Funkier Than A Mosquito's Tweeter - Nina Simone I enjoyed listening to this collction of tracks taken from the game as they all fit in well with the B-Boy scene, however, I would have to say that for a game which focused so much on the Hip Hop genre, the prescence of that music is almost non-existent, therefore not representing the game in the best way possible. I did like the funk feel of it as this is how Hip Hop came about and in my opinion they did find the best examples of this influence for the CD.... Read review

Review of Jazzmatazz Vol.1 - Guru by downloth.net

Advantages: music
Disadvantages: too short

..., relaxing number. Page B: the second page of the record begins with " respektful dedications "; a xylophon loop provides the appropriate atmosphere here. " surely belongs take a look(at yourself) " Roy Ayers plays an inimitable improvisation at the Vibes inspired from this inimitable flow, this Spirit, and exceeds themselves my opinion after. Guru occurs again very self-confidently and sings "... you live for yourself and all your chances have blown away... "; contrary to it, because he created it on the other page. "... you have to of DO it for yourself... " it reminds its brothers and wants to them out a way out of their misery to point.
