ERASURE – LIGHT AT THE END OF THE WORLD
Erasure are made up of two members Andy Bell the lead singer and Vince Clarke who plays all the instruments, Vince used to be in the group Depeche Mode and Yazoo all those years ago.
Erasure got together in the early eighties and the first track they released was 'Who needs love like that'. After that Erasure have released dozens of singles including Sometimes, Drama, Abba esque, Rain & Breathe.
Light at the End of The World is Erasure’s new album and because I like Erasure so much I couldn’t resist buying their latest album, with fifteen albums behind them they never fail to bring a smile to my face but in honesty I’m a little disappointed in this album - Read on for more information.
DISADVANTAGES
Most of the tracks on the Album are very slow, it seems the more Erasure write the slower they get but not everyone in life has the same opinion as me so here is the track listing with a comment or two about each track.
TRACK LISTING & RUNNING TIME
1. Sunday Girl – running time 4.35 minutes I quite like this one it’s quite catchy and the lyrics are well written and it’s going
to be their next single to be released, I don’t think its going to do as well as 'I could fall in love with you' but it will certainly brighten up your day.
2. I Could Fall In Love With You – running time 4.55 minutes This is the first song to be released from this album but I never heard this played on the radio which is a shame because it is quite a nice track and infact my favourite on the album, listening to this reminds me of why I like Erasure’s music so much and it reminds me of similar tracks to their music on their Chorus album.
3. Sucker For Love – running time 3.58 minutes Starts of quite catchy and you think it’s going to be a hit but half way through sounds a bit corny, If I was to compare it to one of their other tracks it would defiantly be ‘Gloria’ from their Wild Album.
4. Storm In A Teacup – running time 4.04 minutes More of a serious track for Erasure, starts off quite ‘Sorrowful’ as the song is about a mum and a dad and a little white lie but then develops into a more of a jig of a song, this has to be my second favourite on the album and I think this would do quite well in the charts if it was to be released.
5. Fly Away – running time 3.21 minutes Not a bad track, even though it’s a short song it does go on a bit and the music is a little annoying and seems to drown Andy singing to me this is a thumbs down.
6. Golden Heart – running time 3.12 minutes Another quick track, sounds a little depressing but it’s not if you listen to the words, again the background music sounds louder then Andy’s singing which is a shame because Andy sounds a little quite on this one.
7. How My Eyes Adore You – running time 3.20 minutes Another track not badly written and a little more catchy then the others, background music is similar to the rest of the album but still not bad, again some of you may love this song.
8. Darlene – running time 3.38 minutes What can I say except it talks a lot about dirty dishes in the sink, Darlene and religion so a bit boring and repetitive and the song goes on and on or seems to.
9. When A Lover Leaves You – running time 3.51 minutes What a boring track, listening to this made me want to turn the volume down. The music in the background seems to repeat itself over and over again so this is a def thumbs down.
10 .Glass Angel – running time 5.03 minutes This track is the longest of the lot, and I’m not sure whether I like it or not, again there is a lot of repeating of the lyrics over and over again, but still its not great but not boring either, I would say its average

EXTRAS
No extras included on the CD I purchased, however if you purchase the deluxe version you get two bonus tracks on ‘Be my Baby’ & ‘I Don’t Know Why’.
The album cover is bright and psychedelic and similar to their other covers, nothing too dim and nothing too special.
This album was released on 21st May 2007 so far the highest chart place for this album was position 29 in the UK charts.
OVERALL OPINION
In all honesty I am an Erasure fan this is why I purchased this album but to be fair it is not their best album, I think the tracks are too slow and too repetitive but out of ten tracks say at a £1.00 a track if you only like 3 or 4 tracks like I do it’s a waste of money. If you are not keen on Erasure or just like one or two of their tracks, save your money and don’t buy this album but do purchase one of their earlier albums such as Chorus or Cowboy, I have enclosed a list of their albums purely for information.
