Advantages: Excellent level of light, work very well, cheap

...My mother in law was coming to visit us a few weeks ago and we were getting things ready in our new cottage. She has recently had a hip replacement operation and is recovering very well but we wanted to make sure that the cottage was as safe as we could possibly make it for her. One of the things we wanted to get was a night light of some sort as she usually gets up in the night to go to the toilet. We looked at the ones available in B & Q and chose a Motion Detector LED Night Light by Masterplug. The pack contained 2 plug-in night lights and cost £9.98. The lights come packed in a see through plastic package with a cardboard insert so that's all recycleable then. Each one is about 11cm tall by about 7cm wide and 5cm deep with the actual light being circular and just over 5cm in diameter. The light is set towards the top... Read review

Advantages: makes toast.. sort of... and will test your smoke alarm during use
Disadvantages: unpredictable, unreliable and can be nerve racking

As I said earlier I have never had much luck with toasters, finding that the better ones seem to make their way to the big toaster in the sky a lot quicker than the ones which should never had hit the market. With this it has made me a little more cautious about buying the ?dodgy? branded cheap and nasty bread browners so when I came across a well known name, such as Bush, at a reasonable price I decided that a four slicer would be ideal for my toast... ...our closet in our bedroom is very dark and dingy looking, i store all of the junk we dont use very often in there but it is a pain when i need something and come to find it as there is no light in there so i have to use a torch, i saw this in woolworths for £9.99 last week and decided to give it a try, it comes in a cardboard box, inside you have a light fitment that looks like an ordinary house hold bulb and a piece to attach to the wall to clip it into. Attaching it to the wall is very simple you have the option of using the sticky pads or the choice of screwing it to the wall, not being a big fan of diy i decoded to use the sticky pad which has actually held a lot better than i expected it to. The light is a lot brighter than i thought it would be and is comparable to a 60 watt bulb but does need 4 aa batteries to power it so i... Read review
