Advantages: A step forward in the Robicheaux series Disadvantages: Not as good as others in the series
never seen him under the influence. In this episode he spectacularly falls off the wagon with disastrous effects for himself and those around him. These developments are all welcome but they come at a price, the hero / bad-guy dynamic follows a well worn path and all the story strands progress without really raising the temperature and reach their relative conclusions a touch too glibly for my liking.
James Lee Burke~
Burke is a fine writer. A multiple award winner he transcends the Crime genre and is capable of descriptive writing that would benefit and enhance many a book, whatever the classification. His ability to paint an emotionally involving picture of the Southern landscape is wonderful to behold and his pleasure in presenting the distinctive Southern mores to the reader are clear to be seen. Throughout the series he has built ...
**Introduction**
As a fan of Soul music One of my favourite artists has got to be the legendary soul singer SolomonBurke, With a voice as big as his build Burke is regarded as one of the greatest singers of all time by fans, critics and fellow performers alike. This album is made up of songs written by some of his biggest admirers in the music industry. All the songs were written especially for SolomonBurke and this album Don't Give Up On Me.
A diverse range of artists wrote songs for this album including the likes of Tom Waits, Van Morrison, Brian Wilson, Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello aswell as the album's producer Joe Henry who wrote the song "Flesh and Blood". Some well known songwriters there but will the album work well or not. well here are my thoughts.

Advantages: A surprisingly good cast Disadvantages: worst film known to mankind, other than Police Acadamy 2-7...and its sequel
of your body until there is a stump left!"
Which brings me to Allan Quatermain. He does his best Harrison Ford impression and we haven't seen him as bad as this since he fell off of 'The Towering Inferno' or does the best death scene ever in 'The Swarm'. Rather than looking the adventurous type, he seems to have walked onto set from a fancy dress party.
And I've forgotten the plot. Well it's quite simple really. Allan Quatermain is convinced by Sharon Stone to go into the African jungle to search for her missing father. Several decapitated heads and large cooking pots later they are chased by John Rhys-Davies and Herbert Lom to King Solomon's Mines.
With special effects that make you weep - fake fire has always made me cry...with laughter.
I would like to say that Richard Chamberlain fans should see this, and just for the hell of it ...

Album Notes
Though Solomon Burke was undeniably one of the very finest soul singers of the 1960s, he spent far too many years in the wilderness until 2002's DON'T GIVE UP ON ME started his comeback train rolling. The rest of the decade found him turning out new albums at a steady clip, and 2008's LIKE A FIRE finds a 68-year-old Burke still fully capable of wringing tear-jerking emotion from his voice. While his 2006 album, NASHVILLE, saw him reinterpreting country tunes, LIKE A FIRE is more akin to DON'T GIVE UP ON ME, as Burke tackles new songs written for him by the likes of Eric Clapton, Keb' Mo', and Ben Harper, who also add their considerable instrumental talents to the proceedings. While some of the material is a bit smoother than that of his last few efforts, Burke's indomitable voice is as commanding and powerful as ever, immediately demanding the listener's attention, and rewarding that attention with emotionally complex, nuanced performances on every single track.
