Advantages: Great beats. Consistent. Disadvantages: Rhymes are weak at times
Released in 2004, "Tha Carter" is the first of what is now a triolgy of album releases by Lil' Wayne, from which came his mainstream success "Tha Carter III" from earlier on in the year. It is his fourth solo release and has him coming with the first of many attempts to break into the the larger rap audience, rather than simply the Dirty South market, seeing that he is a New Orleans, Louisiana native.

Over in America, this was seen as Weezy's breakthrough single. However over here I doubt that anyone would have heard this track by him as it saw no attention without being known prior to this. Lil' Wayne managed to come through with this club-suited tune which has him work closely with another big New Orleans name, Mannie Fresh, who gives the rapper some good beats ...
Advantages: Fantastic lyrics and an album which you wont get bored of. Disadvantages: Some tracks have very repetative backing music which can get annoying.

Where do you start when trying to review Lil' Waynes' talent?
I bought this CD within the first week of its release in June 2008. Coinsidently, this was the week that album sold over 1,000,000 copies within, an achievement which is very rarely obtained by artisits since downloads became available.
I was not expecting this album to be as good as "Tha Carter II" but I was emphatically proved wrong!
This was the only CD in my car for six months and despite my girlfriends original lack of enthusiasm for Lil' Waynes music, the CD seemed to find itself in her bedroom a lot of the time.
If you enjoy listening to Hip-Hop music because you like to listen out for genius lyrics, then this album was made for you as a listener.

don't think there any bad tracks on this album but my favourites are 1,2,4 & 12.
If you want to compare LilWayne to other rappers of his kind i personally think you will struggle to find someone in his league.
