You might have seen this CD before and been miffed at the measly 17 tracks on offer, especially compared to the 50 track box sets that Trojan offer for less money, and so left it on the shelf. However, this CD is simply the best ska compilation I've ever seen, so go back to the shop and buy it! I'll tell you why you should:
This compilation contains originalska recorded at Brentford Road in the early sixties by the then-superstars of Jamaica, and the quality of the selection is awe-inspiring! As the house band, The Skatalites pretty much play on all of these tracks, with the artists forming a who's who of Jamaican music - Tommy McCook, Don Drummond, Jackie Mittoo and Roland Alphonso play in various arrangements alongside The Maytals, The Ethiopians, Delroy Wilson, Joe Higgs and The Wailers.

Advantages: Plenty of Quality Tracks for your Money. Familar famous tracks alongside superb less known tracks. Disadvantages: Not really for those with short attention spans. Mixing between songs can be lengthy.

While it's cover would let you think otherwise, Classic Euphoria and indeed it's sequels are by the Ministry of Sound, and call upon its vast collection of music rights to some of the most famous trance tracks in the last decade

of church music. The first time I heard this piece I found it hard to get into. It seemd a bit discordant and there isn't really a tune running through it which you can hang onto. But now I've listened to it many more times I find it quite hypnotic. The 40 voices of the choir are divided up into 8 groups, to give a very powerful and moving effect. Wonderful.
12 Sibelius - 'Be Still My Soul'. This music was originally part of Sibelius's Finlandia, composed between 1899-1900. It was later adapted by the composer for use as a hymn tune, though in fact the words are much older than the music. They were written in the eighteenth century by Katherina von Schlegel. This particular recording is by Katherine Jenkins. I find it very calming.
