Listen to the band (again)

Advantages: Some stonking 70's hit singles
Disadvantages: B sides are a little ropey soundwise

of near mono recordings in You Wouldn't Leave Me Would You and I'm Celebrating, uh oh, but Jukebox Queen is a fun 50'sish pastiche and the fab funky Tuna Biscuit is worth hearing for the timing and range on display. Otherwise the remainder of the B sides are somewhat forgettable but worth a listen just to hear what else the Band were capable of. The Glitter Band made three studio albums; Hey (1974), Rock & Roll Dudes (1975) and Listen To The Band (1976) the latter of which is more than worth a repeated listen. But punk and New Wave were on the horizon and it was over. A revised Band began touring with Glitter again in the mid 80's before, well, you know, and having seen them myself they are a more than capable live act still able to tear it up. It's a good CD but don't pay over the odds. ...

Back To Love 03.02 - Various Artists

Advantages: Fantastic Full-Length Dance Classics
Disadvantages: A few substandard fillers...

I've got all the Back To Love compilations from Hed Kandi of of "classic tracks that gave birth to a whole generation of clubbers", and was listening to this one (well, both CD's in this double-pack actually) in my car earlier today, so though't I'd let you know what I thought... --- CD1 1. "You're gonna miss me" - Turntable Orchestra (original mix) Classic "italian house" piano, and a great baseline 2. "Love will find a way" - Victor Romeo feat. Latrice Brown Nothing special about this one really, a bit of a filler really... 3. "See the day" - Ann Consuelo (Stonebridge mix) What a vocal ! And more italian piano. 4. "Aftershock" - Slave to the Vibe (12" club mix) Maybe it's this extended 12" mix (that Hed Handi is all about), but I remember this track being much better... 5. "Push the feeling on ...

NME Essential Bands (Various Artists)

Advantages: Many different types of rock and fantstic artists - the best of 2006 and 2007
Disadvantages: Could have more hardrock artists in and and second CD hasn't as much good artists in

A fantastic CD with lot's of different kinds of rock. The best bands of 2006 and 2007 put in one CD. Artists like Snow Patrol, Razorlight, The Fratellies, The Arctic Monkeys, Automatic, The Ordinary Boys, The Killers, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks and the list goes on. Has two CD's and has 40 tracks, 20 on each CD. Has new up coming artist such as Wolfmother. has many artists winners from the Brits: The Killers who won best national CD and best national band, The Arctic Monkeys won best British CD and best British band. The Fratellis won an award too and many more Brit award winning artists. A fantastic purchase well worth its money. A great buy. I recommend definitely to people anywhere between 8 and 100 if they enjoy that kind of music. It even has some live performing artists such as 'The Arctic Monkeys' on tour ...
