Advantages: Cheapest 5 star property in KL. Excellent western property. Great facilities and staff. Disadvantages: Not as fresh as other 5* properties but at this price, who cares??!
When I first moved to Malaysia I didn?t realise how cheap the hotels were out there. It was only once I got talking to the locals did I realise how cheap you could holiday for in Kuala Lumpur. A good 4* hotel room could be as cheap as £15 a night! I soon decided to investigate this further and look at what you could actually get for your £ in this amazing city.
When I lived in Malaysia I lived about 1hr from Kuala Lumpur in a small town. On the weekends KL is where it was ?at? so I soon began staying in hotels there for the weekend. My first foray into the KL hotel scene was with the Renaissance, a good western brand that is part of the Marriott group.

We booked a double room in the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel months in advance through an agent and got a very good rate of 89 pounds per night excluding breakfast, but including car parking for 10 days. The walk-in rate is, I think, somewhere around 220 pounds per night.
The arrival and check-in went smoothly. The bags were taken into the room, the baby cot we had requested was already there. What I did have to ask for is cot sheets and a blanket. The room was clean but a bit stuffy. The bed was very large and comfortable with lots of pillows. We decided to have breakfast in the room the following morning so we ordered it the night before.
