First of all, what is 'dual disc'? Well its a double-sided disc with a CD on one side and a DVD on the other. Neat. Except some players cannot play it. Its slightly thicker than either a standard DVD or CD so if you have slot-in loading system rather than the more traditional slide-out tray you could be out of luck trying to play a dual disc. Be careful. OK. Gillan's Inn. Well, I saw Gillan at a very small venue (Healey's in Toronto) while he was recording this album. We were about 6 feet from the stage and he was nothing short of exceptional. His voice range and power undiminshed by the ravages of time so I had high hopes for this album. The album is basically a collection of Ian's favourite songs from down the years re-recorded with some of his mates. (I'm not going to put a track list/personel list up - its on Amazon etc ...

Living In Oblivion review

Advantages: Well acted, keeps you engaged throughout

Living In Oblivion is a low budget independent film written and directed by Tom DiCillo and starring Steve Buscemi and Dermot Mulroney. Sure, these aren't A-list stars, but that lends itself to the story. If it was a film about the making of a film and you had George Clooney and Brad Pitt pretending to be small time actors you wouldn't believe it. That's why it was better to use less well known actors, it pulls you more into the story. The film takes place during one day on set of a low budget movie, and documents all the problems that the director, Nick (Buscemi), and everyone else can encounter, from equipment malfunctioning to office politics to actors forgetting their lines. It's almost like a documentary, it is very realistic and gives you the complete story as to what it's like trying to get a film made. There are a few ...

Live in Texas

Advantages: A CD/DVD package that will please most fans for £9.99
Disadvantages: So much more could (should?) have been done with the DVD...

People?s opinions of Linkin Park are bound to be divided. After Limp Bizkit opened nu-metal to a wider commercial market, Linkin Park were certainly one of the first bands to capitalise. Some see them as a sell out (boy band with nu-metal trappings), while others no doubt like them for much the same reason! I think Hybrid Theory was a great debut album, setting Linkin Park ahead of their peers and deservedly selling bucket loads. My cynical side says they?re milking it a little though. Over six million sales of the long awaited follow-up Meteora, yet they?ve still felt the need for a remix album and now live CD/DVD package in that time? Still Live In Texas coincides with a UK tour and comes just in time for Christmas, so maybe it?s to be expected. Life In Texas is technically a CD with bonus DVD I believe.
