Advantages: A great weekend, free events, attracts many big artists. Disadvantages: It may rain!
One of my best memories of summer 2001 was going to the Brecon JazzFestival whilst I was working at a summer camp nearby.
The Brecon Jazzfestival is renowned all over Europe and attracts big names such as Van Morrison and the Bootleg Beatles. There are loads of indoor concerts for which you need tickets, which can be expensive and sell out quickly. The town is transformed for the long weekend, all traffic is banned from the city centre and loads of marquees are put up.
As well as the paying events, there is loads going on for the rest of us who want to join in the fun (but are either skint or not willing to pay to listen to jazz).
In George Square there is a stage where bands play for free. The night I went there was a brass band (similar to Blues Brothers music). They were brilliant and really interesting to watch with all ...
a British comedian , born in Hounslow , London on 15th September 1972. He has appeared on many Channel 4 television programmes and is now a successful stand-up comedian. He is also a writer , actor and presenter of both television and radio.
This DVD was released in 2008 and is currently available to buy from Amazon for a price of £11.78! I paid £2 for my copy - bargain!! This DVD is an 18 which means it should not be viewed by persons under the age of 18 - There is a LOT of bad language and crude humour!
I hadn't seen any of Jimmy Carr's concerts before and so wasn't sure what to expect. I watched for a few minutes , as he told a few jokes , yes the audience laughed their heads off , but I wasn't really enjoying it! First of all , the man himself (I'll come to the jokes later!) is quite anoying after a little while ; he is far too cocky ...
Advantages: dry wit, posh humour, facial expressions Disadvantages: sometimes goes a bit to far ?
Jimmy Carr has to be one of the best stand ups around, not only has he recently finished a sell out tour around the UK he is also recieveing Television shows to host by the cart load.
For those of you who have never heard of him before (how I dont know) Jimmy is a middle-class comedian from the home counties, and as he says 'I dont have an accent.....this is how things are supposed to be pronounced'
His earlier shows 'Your face or mine' and 'distraction' were offered to Carr after his Royal variey performance (one of the many extras) in which as a relatively unknown he conquered the night and recieved a standing ovation.
This DVD is taken from his sell out tour and include an extremly original feel to it. Aswell as the expected 'stand up' the show also includeds mini parts which brake the show down.
These miniparts are are ...

Album Notes
Personnel: Jimmy Witherspoon (vocals); Robben Ford (guitar, alto saxophone); Woody Herman (clarinet); Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster (tenor saxophone); Roy Eldridge (trumpet); Earl Hines (piano); Paul Nagel (Fender Rhodes piano); Vernon Alley, Stan Poplin (bass instrument); Jim Baum, Mel Lewis (drum). In 1972 Jimmy Witherspoon blew away the Monterey Jazz Festival with a line-up helmed by blues guitar master Robben Ford. On this live recording from that performance, Ford covers an impressive emotional gamut with his fretboard that matches Spoon's slow-burning soul vocals note for note. Rarely have two giants been so ably matched and MJF LIVE 1972 captures their bond at its creative peak.
